Comments about Yasuhara Madoka 180 Fisheye Lens for Sony E Mount:

A fisheye like this would normally cost twice what this one costs, which is why I give this 4 stars. It doesn't have the ability to talk to your camera, so the aperture and focus are fully manual. That said, the dual ring controls are very solid and work as smoothly as a high-end lens. All-in-all, it is solidly constructed, and lets you take an amazingly-wide panorama. There are so many possibilities you get with a fisheye, and at this price, it can be a staple in your camera bag. On most shoots I find I want to use it at least a few times, and it is so small it is an easy addition. Highly recommended. My only complaint is that the black area (everything but the circular image) is not always black; some light seems to slip in. It is easy to compensate for by a few moments in photoshop, but about 1 out of 4 pictures have that anomaly that requires me to fill in with black.

Comments about Yasuhara Madoka 180 Fisheye Lens for Sony E Mount:

Does not work well with the Sony NEX-VG10/20. This lens is similar to looking through a doors wide angle "peep hole". Its fisheye view was so wide and the lens is so compact that it picked up the microphone on the VG20 camera. Since the microphone is a permanent fixture on the VG20 this lens did not work for me. It did fit readily to the E-mount without a problem.

Comments about Yasuhara Madoka 180 Fisheye Lens for Sony E Mount:

Circular fisheyes are a usually a mixed bag, but this one is surprisingly nice. It's very sharp at the center and actually reasonably sharp in at the edges of the circle too. That isn't something that I can say about many others – especially not at this price. Although it's not too hard to focus (using magnification), it's safe to scale focus unless your subject is fairly close.

The lens is well built with firm clicks at full stops on the aperture ring. It is surprisingly small and lightweight. The best part, though, is that it produces a nicely centered, fully circular image, without the tops or bottoms getting cropped off.

There are two slight negatives, though. The focus ring isn't dampened much at all, so it is easy to inadvertently change the focus distance. Also, the unique lens cap fits a bit loosely. I nearly lost mine on the first day out with the lens.

Otherwise I'm very happy using this lens with my Nex 7.
