Comments about MK Digital Direct Photo-eBox II Product Lighting System:

Purchased this item to shoot small items we manufacture and sell on the web. I found the overhead lights very useful and important to produce the best image. I use a D3300 with a 50mm f1.8 prime lens.
I would like to see a way to reduce the direct lighting from the bottom and sides.

Comments about MK Digital Direct Photo-eBox II Product Lighting System:

What I have found is this unit "blows out" your background and the light is so intense that it makes the jewelry look washed out and fake. The background may be a perfect white but without natural shadows, the products look horrible and definitely not catalog quality. I've had better results with a light tent for under $100. The one thing I find strange is it's hard to find "real" reviews anywhere on the internet regarding their units. You can only find testimoniala on their "website" but rarely will you find a review anywhere. You have to buy one to find out for yourself and since they're costly to return, I'm sure most people end up keeping them. I for one will take the hit and return mine.

I waited over a year to buy one of these units, doing my homework but since it's impossible to find actual reviews from people that found it sub par, I had to buy it to find out the images are too blown out to be of any use. I know my way around Photoshop but I don't want to spend hours trying to get them to not look so fake. I really tried to like this unit but without being able to adjust the lighting to add shadows everything looks so stark that they just don't look good.
