Comments about Rokinon 8mm f/3.5 HD Fisheye Lens with Removable Hood for Sony:

So when i putt this lens on the A99. The first time it was telling me NO lens.
easy fix went into settings . changed release with out lens enabled, put camer into manul focus . I dont know what i changed to make the screen work . at the time, it was view finder only. ever thing works now .
The setting APS-C Size capture IN Auto. Will make a round picture with black corners . When put into ON mode its full frame no black corners. All the mode.s,p,a,m,123,auto,panorama T10,movie all work.
So the words back up,to get you all in the picture. Not used hear!
For this type lense auto focus is not needed .I see no need for it.If the Fstop opened biger then you might need A/F.
Fstop is manul and click into a preset number. I have mixed feelings about this.
(3.5,5.6,8,11,16,22,) So you can leave it between click's. I dont think thats the intended use.
The focus ring is smooth with a light drag ,to hold it in place .It turns from 12 O clock to 4 min to infinty.
The hood snap's into lock. The cover holds on to the hood .It is a good fit.
I find my self touching the lens now and then.(bad fingers ) Everone i have tooking a picture of love's it. Like other have talked about infinty focus mark is very soft .

Comments about Rokinon 8mm f/3.5 HD Fisheye Lens with Removable Hood for Sony:

I absolutely in love with this lens. I use it for wedding receptions & at f8 it's super sharp. I'm very happy with the purchase. I take the hood off & on my crop sensor camera I don't have the circle. It's also super lightweight.

Keep in mind it's a manual focus lens but like I said it's pretty sharp at f8 at infinity.

          With Sony A-65
          Used for buildings,barns,etc,any large subject,
which this lens covers very well.
          Minimal flare.
          Sharp at F8, and F5.6.
Used various special effects within the camera with this lens, with pleasing results.

Comments about Rokinon 8mm f/3.5 HD Fisheye Lens with Removable Hood for Sony:

I bought this fisheye primarily to shoot portraits of bands and people who skate. Wide open at f3.5 it's fairly soft and looks almost as if you have a diffuser filter on the front element, which isn't possible due to the front element which bulges out. But once stopped down to f8 or f11 it is as sharp as any lens can get. The focusing ring is damped fairly nice, although it might be a defect the focusing seems to be mis-calibrated or doesn't function as well as I was hoping. It's a fairly heavy lens compared to the other lens I have for my Sony A33. Although being heavy it is mostly constructed of metal which is a plus to its' durability. The lens hood and cap are the only plastic part of the lens, both are now removable. The lens hood snaps back into place when you are putting it back on after removing. Please notice that if you do not snap the hood back into place, the lens will pick up the lens hood in the upper right and and lower left hand corner. With that being said when you are using the pop up flash with the lens hood on it will block off some of the light from the flash. Even with it off, the lens itself will block some of the light fall off. And of course picking up 180 degrees on the horizontal axis the pop up flash will not produce enough light to fill your whole frame. All in all this is a fantastic piece of glass.
