I can't understand why there would be a bad review for this product. I purchased it after reading the reviews and decided to give it a try. It is easy to attach to my D810 even though others may have felt that the pins were 'tricky'. Simply align the marks on the camera and remote and viole'! I am currently in Colorado for two weeks shooting the San Juan Mountains in the spring and have loved using this with my tripod to get some blur free shots. The trigger is fast and on the mark. I am so happy that I was able to purchase my Nikon MC-30A remote trigger release!

I bought my second MC-30A remote about a year ago, after my original unit failed in LESS than a year! Used lightly, but now like the first, its has developed a short, seems where the wire connects to the unit. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. Its now useless. I guess you don't always get what you pay for?

Comments about Nikon MC-30A Remote Trigger Release:

The release works well but after a year of use it stopped working for no apparent reason. Fortunately, I had a back-up so I highly recommend that you carry a spare.

Comments about Nikon MC-30A Remote Trigger Release:

It works well, but is ambiguous to grasp and hold while trying to grip it with the poorly shaped handle. I own a few different remotes and this one is very unnatural to me.

Comments about Nikon MC-30A Remote Trigger Release:

I have found using this style remote, with camera mounted to a sturdy tripod, over the past year I can rely on this core to instantly trigger the shutter. It is generally useful at eliminating motion blur, generally experienced at slow shutter speeds (can vary, but for me 1/20th sec or slower). Also, when shooting with shutter speeds generally between 1/2 sec to 2 seconds in duration, I will also release mirror and wait four seconds before firing.

Comments about Nikon MC-30A Remote Trigger Release:

This is a great add to your camera system for 'on tripod' picture taking. I lost my old one and ended up using the shutter delay option to take pictures of the recent blood moon. I ordered this soon afterward to those steady camera pictures.

Works great. easy, and you can always argue that something like this should be cheaper based on what it does and what it's made out of.

Also, in the future, there's no reason why this cannot be a wireless accessory without any additional 'bolt on' parts. That would be nice.

I bought two of these at one time to replace my old version. The screw thread is much larger and easier to attach than the old ones. The problem is that one works perfectly but the other goes directly into the locked position once you snap the trigger. I'm sure I can get a replacement if I pressed the issue.

The white arrow to align proper pin alignment is the biggest improvement Nikon has made to the MC-30. I use mine a lot so maybe I won't bend the 10 pin port in the future. A must have for timed exposures or taking tack sharp landscape.

The only difference that I can see between the MC-30A and the older model is that the screw lug is larger and protrudes from the plug more. This is a small, but great improvement as it was always difficult to unscrew the remote from my D800 and D810. Nice call, Nikon.
