Comments about ViewSonic Pro9000 Full HD 1080p Laser LED Hybrid Home Theater Projector:

This is my forth projector and i bought it almost a year ago.NO lamps to change and NO filters to clean. The picture on my 100 inch screen is unbeliveable. My other projectors cost me a ton of money in replacement lamps alone. So i suggest this model / PRO 9000 to anyone who wants a great picture with NO warm up needed. Also they were not kidding about the Lo noise level. It"s unbelievably low

Comments about ViewSonic Pro9000 Full HD 1080p Laser LED Hybrid Home Theater Projector:

I was in the market to replace my 10 yr. old Sanyo PLV-70 Projector because I was moving up to full HD (1080p) on all my players - U-verse TV, Blu-ray, Roku, etc. from component video cables. The PLV-70 was never a full HD projector, but still has very high quality clarity in the WXGA format: 1366 x 768 pixels.

ViewSonic's Pro9000 is a great upgrade for me. This projector has many very good features that match the PLV-70 - like great brightness and color. It is easy to set up and the remote is extremely good; all the buttons light up and that is a great help in a dark room. The Pro9000 has an energy saving mode and its menus are easy to use. I especially was drawn to this projector because of the No-Wait warm up of the projection lamp. (The fact that this projector's hybrid lamp is listed for over 20,000 hours is very impressive.) My old PLV-70 has a 30 sec. warm-up and cool-down that seems to last forever! And replacement lamps are several hundreds of $s a pop!

The only negative features are this projector's lack of a greater zoom range and the clunky manual focus ring. But since I am using this projector in a fixed location (my ceiling) and plan to set it up only once, these are of little importance to me.

I tried using a "univeral" ceiling mount with the Pro9000 and it did not work - the 3mm bolts were too short and the whole mount seemed too complex because of its many parts. I then noticed a simple, close to the ceiling mount(4" space between ceiling and projector) that works for me.

I did not find any information on the type of screen to use with the Pro9000. It was recommended that my old PLV-70 be used with the Steward Filmscreen Grayhawk style screen - this screen is slightly gray in color and boosts the blacks that the PLV-70's LCDs tend to wash out a bit. I am using this screen (at 100") and the color, contrast, blacks and all seem to be excellent.

I am looking forward to many years of use with this new projector!
