I bought the Nikon V1 kit with the 10-100 and 10-30 zoom with the FT1 when it was bundled. I have a Nikon DSLR but with age, wanted to scale down when I travelled. So the 10 mpx is a plus, since I have smaller files to download and backup.

I bought it to use my other Nikon lenses, so have not used the lenses as often. The V1 and 60mm f2.8 macro with the FT1 is a dream. Fast, small and long macro and still manages fantastic autofocus. I also tried it with the 18-200. The autofocus hunts, which is a disappointment, but manual focussing with the viewfinder is accurate. Now I have an approximate 50-540mm zoom in a small, light package. The really good thing is the electronic shutter, which makes the V1 completely silent and vibration free, perfect for macro and small animals. ISO3200 is acceptable, and is needed with the 18-200. The appearance also changes in the viewfinder when exposure compensation is set, so it partially makes up for the lack of live histogram. I love the V1 so much that I have since ordered the just released 18.5mm lens, so that it becomes a general use camera. I normally do not buy anything until it has been in the market for a while.

The main con about the V1 is that it is a "trust me" camera. Trying to override or manually set anything takes a few steps. One thing really bad is that the selector dial can be shifted accidentally. Finally, start up time is really slow, compared to just about any modern camera.

Comments about Nikon 1 V1 Mirrorless Digital Camera Deluxe Kit (Black):

It's been almost a year since I've ordered this camera -- and this model has been discontinued -- I would say this camera package was an amazing value. Though the senor size is much smaller than most mirrorless cameras, the quality shots that I produced from wildlife/bird photography were crisp and vibrant as long as the lighting is decent. Also, the adapter goes a long way to helping out -- since using DSLR lenses on a mirrorless body definitely increases the capability.

Comments about Nikon 1 V1 Mirrorless Digital Camera Deluxe Kit (Black):

At original list prices it is relatively easy to be critical of the V1 itself - It has some interface deficiencies. The same is true of this kit - it combines an odd pair of lenses, and the PD zoom's weight and size is rather at odds with V1's size. The case is also too small to accomodate the kit provided. BUT and it's a BIG BUT, at this price it's a STEAL.

You get the whole kit for around the original price of the camera and short zoom OR the PD zoom - and you get the FT1, case the super (but normally pricey) flash as well. Just amazing value.

Comments about Nikon 1 V1 Mirrorless Digital Camera Deluxe Kit (Black):

I have had my N1 V1 about two weeks and am getting comfortable with it. I love the thing. I got it with the 10-30 and the 30-110 lenses. I shoot scenic 360 degree panoramic photography, and I decided to do a shoot-out with the N1 and my D200 last weekend. I have been almost exclusively using my N1 since I got it, and in the middle of the shootout I decided to change the shooting mode on the D200 and I automatically brought up the menu to change shooting mode. Then I remembered that on the D200 I had to find the annoying dedicated button for mode change and then rotate one of the other wheels and watch in the LCD display for the "M" to come up. It's a lot easier to just have those mode changes in the menu system with everything else.I have read a lot of reviews where the reviewer complains about changing the selection dial accidentally on the N1. I had that problem a little bit at first, but that was mostly because I was unfamiliar with the camera and fumbling to control it. Now that I am aware of how infrequently I move that dial I just avoid it and haven't had any more problems. But you do have to change it back to single image mode from video when you are finished shooting a video. Once you are used to the way the camera works, it reminds you that you are still in video mode because the little rectangles that identify your focus points don't appear in the video mode, so when you hold down the shutter button if the focus rectangles and the accompanying beep aren't happening it means you've left the dial in video mode. The N1 holds its own against the image quality of the D200. One problem I did notice with the N1 30-110 mm lens is falloff in the corners. They are noticeably dark, unfortunately. The electronic viewfinder is beautiful as is the hi-res LCD screen on the rear of the camera.I took my regular hot shoe bubble level and used the grinder in my shop to resize it on one side so it slides into the custom hot shoe of the N1, so now the one bubble level will work for my DSLR and also on the N1. The tiny size and super light weight are a real plus on the trail. The colors are vibrant and the nef images give you the opportunity to really manipulate the images once they are in Lightroom. I have Lightroom 4.The price of $ for the N1 V1 and two lenses was just too good a deal to pass up. After two weeks of testing I am convinced that the images from the N1 are good enough for my professional work. A couple of years ago I was commissioned to shoot an 18' x 6' mural for the main visitors center at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. I shot a telephoto mosaic with my D200 to create the image that was used to print the big mural. I shot a couple of comparison images using the same technique with the D200 and the N1 V1 last weekend, and I am confident that the N1 is capable of producing just as usable an image as the D200 and its much bigger glass.I will still need the D200 for HDR situations because the N1 lacks bracketing capability. That's something Nikon should add to a later model.

Comments about Nikon 1 V1 Mirrorless Digital Camera Deluxe Kit (Black):

I already have a D5100 for photography when IQ is most important, I got this for small carry everywhere camera that can take high speed photos for kid's, golf and video. It does not have any competition as of this writing. No 5 stars as Nikon mucked up the menu a little and deviated from standard photography controls, other than that it's great.

Comments about Nikon 1 V1 Mirrorless Digital Camera Deluxe Kit (Black):

For the price this camera is going for it's an amazing bargain.

The focus is incredibly fast and the option of using my other Nikon lenses is a huge plus.

For sports photography the AF system follows the subject, keeping it in focus as I continue to shoot.

Also the 2.7 amplification of other Nikon telephone lenses without the loss of light is great for getting up close at sporting events.

The flash unit also does a wonderful job at fill flash and taking care of limited light situations as longs as the spaces don't get too large.

Very happy with this camera all around.

Comments about Nikon 1 V1 Mirrorless Digital Camera Deluxe Kit (Black):

This package, including the versatile PD lens is optimal for filming. The focus and zoom motors in the PD lens are silent! Sharpness is more than what you pay for. The flash is very powerful for its size and makes for great indoor bounce flash. Nikon has cleverly, as the battery in the V1 is powerful, chosen to use the camera's power source for the flash accounting for the power in the small size. The minor caveat for filming is that f/4,5-5,6 indors makes for difficulties in filming indoors. An LED light would doubtlessly help. While I applaud the quick release flash mount, and see its utility, I find it rather cheap of Nikon not to include an ISO flash adapter but to charge a not inconsiderable sum for this (ISO cold shoe needed for mic). On the camera, the biggest plus is the rapid refresh EVF which gives a fluid experience not far off a true OVF.

Comments about Nikon 1 V1 Mirrorless Digital Camera Deluxe Kit (Black):

Used for church video and stills (difficult lighting and color temperatures). Purchased to compliment a Canon HF G10. Canon has a SLIGHT edge on focus follow, and, of course, it's hard to beat the Canon's internal image stabilization. However, image quality (video-wise) is very good on both. And the Nikon can take extremely nice stills as well. Add to this creativity -- with the FT-1 I can play around with my other Nikon lenses. As for the small sensor, Nikon has done a remarkable job of getting the most out of it. Sensor size is somewhat irrelevant when the great majority of us will never print (if we print at all) above 8x10. And 3mp is sufficient (properly cropped in camera) for 8x10's so you've cropping room, should you need it. If grain (noise) on the higher ISO's is problematic, get a noise reduction program. I routinely use one, even on my D300.Very few have mentioned the "cute little flash." Don't be fooled by it's size. It works, and works well. And the rotating head . . . ah yes, you can look like a pro.If you don't want to work hard for good looking images, go ahead, put the V1 on auto (including auto ISO). I swear . . . you can't take a bad picture with it. I'm an old retired pro and have (and still do) all the manual manipulation when I want to. But sometimes I just want a fun camera, and this looks to be it. Lucky for me . . . "photo snobs" (and I say this jokingly) have "slammed" this camera into a beautiful kit price point that almost anyone can afford. So if you're looking for a reasonably priced camera (kit) that can produce great images, great HD video, and/or brainless fun, this just may be it. If you're looking to do fine artistic prints at extreme enlargment, this camera may not. Or if you're posturing for that "imposing" professional "look", buy something bigger.I may look at a version 2 body down the line, but I'd have to convince myself that the improvements would make a difference in what I shoot.

Comments about Nikon 1 V1 Mirrorless Digital Camera Deluxe Kit (Black):

I bought this system for my wife who was using a Nikon D60. This system is smaller and lighter than the D60 with the 18-200 zoom. The images out of this camera are great: excellent exposure and color even in difficult lighting situations. The external flash works great also. The best part is the FT1 adaptor will allow her to use my other Nikon lenses.

The 10-100mm zoom is a little bulky, but still usable as a one-lens solution for vacations and travel.

light camera body, esp good for my business trip. goo pairing to my wife's J1.
The lens is a bit heavy, as compared to the new nikon 1 lens of the same range, but the photos taken with it are crispy and sharp.
The adaptor is great with my 55-300mm nikkor. Now I have a 810mm now. The photos came out are impressive.
The adaptor is also good with my micro-nikkors.

Comments about Nikon 1 V1 Mirrorless Digital Camera Deluxe Kit (Black):

I do not claim to be a professional photographer. I am an amateur at best. My husband and I will be doing some traveling in the near future so we wanted a better camera than just a point-an-shoot. The size and weight of this camera is great for hiking. It is easy to get set up at a moment's notice. My favorite feature of the camera is how accurate the colors are in the photos. Other cameras distort the color of objects, especially if taken indoors. But the colors produced are true to life.

Small form factor, great for travel, family snap shots, with the added ability to use other Nikon lenses without sacrificing quality.

The price of this lens and accessary kit is quite reasonable. I recommend the deluxe kit as a first choice for the Nikon 1 system.

Comments about Nikon 1 V1 Mirrorless Digital Camera Deluxe Kit (Black):

Plan to use as backup and supplemental travel camera to my D600.With silent electronic shutter mode and an additional 18.5 f1.8 lens should be great for street photography. Uses the same battery and charger as D600 and my D7000,too. FT1 attachment works well and makes my 70-200 lens a 540mm equivalent and 28-300 travel lens up to 810 mm equivalent! Good quick focus.
Not terribly happy with kit 10-100 lens for size and IQ, but it should make videographers happy. Had to update firmware before I could use FT1 which seemed to perhaps improve 10-100 lens performance as well. More stable with an added grip from another source. Mode dial not well thought out and I will tape it and the loose accessory port cover to avoid problems.

Comments about Nikon 1 V1 Mirrorless Digital Camera Deluxe Kit (Black):

I bought a Nikon 1 J1. After a few months of use J1, I become like Nikon 1's format and its unique feature associated with the format like fast frame rate imaging and expandability. With good experience of J1, I decided to take this V1 kit to grow my Nikon 1 system. It is a thoughtful package. I like the FT1 convertor included. You suddenly can play with Nikon 1 with all the Nikon DX and full frame lenses you have. I very pleased with the 10-100mm power zoom lens. It simply gives me an easy to use camcorder to collect very smooth and high quality video. I like the 10-30mm compact zoom with detachable flash. This combination is a more powerful alternative to my J1 (of course J1 is more portable). So, if you like versatility, this kit is a valuable starting package for your Nikon 1 system.

The thing I don't like is that V1 body is already obsoleted. I hope to add Nikon v3 or later into my system in the future as Nikon 1 progress.

                      I bought 2 Nikon1 v1 in 2 weeks with special prices.
The cameras is good in low light for photo, but video isn't kinda dark video or maybe I need to buy mor lenses with smaller aperture#.
