Very heavy duty and sturdy product. I use it on a 11' Manfrotto stand with a 430 EXII flash and Bowens 45" umbrella. I am very happy I chose this one w/teeth for tilting manipulation. It stays at the angle I choose. The metal screw for the umbrella has worked well so far but it is just a metal screw and could potential scratch the umbrella pole after awhile. Though the only other ones I found were plastic screws that were known to strip, so I'll take some scratches any day over striping of the screw.

There are two things I don't like about this head. The cold-shoe doesn't hold a flash as securely as it should and the "removable" top stud doesn't do you much good because you can't replace it with anything. You're pretty much stuck with the shoe that's on there. Luckily I'm using a hot-shoe slave unit that can screw into the 1/4" side bracket. If not for that, I'd constantly be worried about my flash falling off and I probably would've just sent it back.
On the up side, it holds umbrellas securely (although the knurl is small and hard to torque), it's durable, it's lightweight and it can fit on just about any light stand with it's reversible stud adapter.
All-in-all, it's definitely worth it to just go ahead and buy a bracket that has a truly removable top stud and a separate cold shoe that will hold your flash...but that's just my opinion.

Perfect for my ice light!! I love accessories like this that let me downsize the number of items I need to be concerned with and carry around on wedding day. One stand, one mount lets me use my speedlight or ice light. With the ice light I can position the light vertical, horizontal, or anywhere in between. Brilliant!!

Comments about Morris MTH-202 Umbrella Tilt Head:

I love using this tilt head for my umbrellas. I mount it directly onto my stand, although it is light enough to be on a boom. Everything about it is meant to let you do your job, from the ease of setup to its impact resistance. It feels great to have equipment which lets me focus on my work.

If I could change one thing about it, I would add padding to the screw which holds the umbrella in place. The lone screw allows the umbrella to escape in strong winds, unless it is made very very tight.

Comments about Morris MTH-202 Umbrella Tilt Head:

I use this to hold an SB-800 or 600 with an umbrella on a light stand for quick off camera portable flash photography. It is built sufficiently for the price and should last as long as it is not abused. Not sure how it will handle tumbles or rough use. But if I knew my equipment would be subject to that, I would try to find something more robust, and pay a lot more. My only wish is that the hotshot clamp was more positive, but again at this cost, it is satisfactory.

Comments about Morris MTH-202 Umbrella Tilt Head:

I bought one of these several years ago, and in the meantime the manufacturer has improved the design. My older version did not have a tightening screw on the cold shoe mount, and if I wasn't careful my speedlight could slip out of the cold shoe. The new version of this bracket now eliminates that possibility as the speedlight can be secured tightly in place by tightening the screw on the coldshoe to clamp down on the strobe foot. A very welcome feature that the current product picture does not show. I've order more of these brackets to replace my older one's without the coldshoe screw.

I liked this umbrella bracket because of it's all metal construction and the side arm feature that allows me to mount a small ball head for extra utility, but now with the addition of the coldshoe screw I like this bracket even more.

This is a great little piece of gear. Very solid. No problems holding onto the umbrella shaft without damaging it. I like that it has teeth for the positioning so you don't have to worry about it slowly drifting out of position. I will be buying another.

When I need to mount a Quantum RF receiver the side plate is a plus. The cold shoe does not clamp tightly onto the foot of the flash and this is a problem with strobes like the Nikon SB800/900 with their lever mount. The older flashes with a screw tightening mechanism worked much better with this type of shoe. When the mount is tilted to direct the light down from the umbrella it is not at all unusual to have the SB800 slide out of the shoe. Gaffers tape works but it is not the best solution.I have switched to using a bracket to which I can attach a cold shoe mount that does have a side tension adjustment. Shoe cost[$] so it was a minor cost to have something that holds the flash securely. Do wish that lighting companies would continue to refine their products instead of making the same thing year after year after year.

I use these things to put flashes on. Because that's what they're for. I like that it has the quarter inch screw mounts because a couple of my strobes need that. With these I can shoot two strobes into one umbrella to get an extra stop of light if i need it. It's made out of solid metal which is great.

The quality is definitely impressive on this unit. From the images I assumed the construction to be a high-quality polymer, however it's all metal, a nice surprise. All of the knobs are spring loaded too which is a nice touch. The angle of adjustment on the head is strong and locks very securely. The shoe fits my 430EX II perfect and the pocket wizard mounts to the extra stud on the extension. No-more dangling pocket wizards getting knocked around. The shoe isn't however replaceable with a standard thread mount, but you could always mount your preferred shoe to the extension and let the built in shoe hold a pocket wizard or such. The only thing I wish this mount had was that the umbrella hole was angled up a hair so that you can fill more of the umbrella with the strobe.

My Nikon sb-800 fit snug without any feeling that the flash was not secure.

Comments about Morris MTH-202 Umbrella Tilt Head:

Very heavy duty and sturdy product. I use it on a 11' Manfrotto stand with a 430 EXII flash and Bowens 45" umbrella. I am very happy I chose this one w/teeth for tilting manipulation. It stays at the angle I choose. The metal screw for the umbrella has worked well so far but it is just a metal screw and could potential scratch the umbrella pole after awhile. Though the only other ones I found were plastic screws that were known to strip, so I'll take some scratches any day over striping of the screw.

This product is so easy to use, I actually need to get another for my studio. It is quite affordable and works like a charm. I would recommend this to anyone who needed a quick affordable Umbrella tilt head for your lighing needs.
