Comments about Sony LHP-1 Lens Hood:

I bought this lens hood for my RX1RII fixed lens camera. Being fixed lens, I knew I needed to maximize the amount of protection of the external lens element, because repairing if damaged would be a costly exercise. I installed a UV filter and this LHP-1 lens hood by Sony. I tend to go with what is built for the original equipment, and as expected this lens hood works well, looks great, and is made of aluminum, not cheap plastic. The price is a bit steep for what I usually am willing to pay, but when considering the cost of the camera itself, this was not that expensive and will do a good job protecting the lens from bumps and scrapes.

Comments about Sony LHP-1 Lens Hood:

For the price I expected it to be made of a good metal like steel or brass. It's aluminum. It does the job and looks good but is severely overpriced. It's not better than a knockoff would be.

Comments about Sony LHP-1 Lens Hood:

This is a $[$] lens hood for the Sony RX1. There are no after market alternatives at the moment. I have experienced lens flare one time and feel I need the lens hood. In addition it does provide an additional level of protection for the lens. While I can't say enough good things about the RX1 the price of this lens hood chaps me. Its a necessary evil from Sony. I recommend it until a suitable aftermarket alternative becomes available.

Comments about Sony LHP-1 Lens Hood:

I like to have a lens hood to reduce lens flare, but more importantly so that I don't have to keep a lens cap on the camera. This is an expensive lens hood, but it bayonets on very solidly and like the camera is nicely made and finished, and suits the Zeiss optics. Nothing about this camera is cheap, especially the price.
