Comments about D5200 Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm Lens (Black):

I mostly shoot portraits and i went from a D3100 to this. The ISO options are soooo much better, i have less noise at higher ISO, but still a bit too much for my liking. I had the D3100 for two years, and just got this one a year ago. I am very pleased with the results, though i will likely upgrade again to something far less noisy in about a year or two. Overall great product. I attached two pictures, one in low light (at 4000ISO) and one in daylight (at 100ISO) to give a visual on the grain.

Comments about D5200 Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm Lens (Black):

Can't beat the photo quality of this DSLR for the price. Easy to learn its capabilities. Lightweight. Kit lens is decent. I added a Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR Lens. Its a great addition to this camera and doesn't add too much weight. Can't go wrong with this DSLR.

Comments about D5200 Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm Lens (Black):

Young teenager wanted to do a photography course this past summer, so I found one that she loved. (Just the basics of shooting with a digital SLR.) So since then, she has REALLY wanted a good camera, and she was astonished when she got one for Christmas (and her birthday and maybe part of next Christmas too?!!) This is a great camera for her to grow into, and she is already playing with all of the manual settings. I really wanted one with a viewfinder, and with a large enough swivel screen. Great that the video is there too. Beautiful photos already! Was only looking at Nikon or Canon. Super happy with this choice. 2 online B&H chat guys and 1 phone guy were very helpful in this decision process too.

I'm looking towards retirement in a couple of months and I spend a lot of time outdoors. the last several years I've always had a camera near, so I decided to upgrade. I purchased a D5200 from B&H and could not be happier. The only downside to this story is that the camera knows more about taking pictures than I do. But that will change, I promise

This is my first dslr camera, before I made a purchase I reviewed nikon and cannon and kept coming back to the nikon d5200. I have not had a chance to really get out there and use it much just yet. But have been learning how it works has been easy to understand. I think this is going to be a great first dslr!

Comments about D5200 Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm Lens (Black):

Bought this DSLR/lens combo kit about six months ago as a beginner photographer, and have learned a TON since purchasing. This was a great camera to learn on, as it offers the full range of automatic modes that will get you out and shooting photos immediately. You can learn about the full functionality of manual modes and the huge range of this camera's capabilities at your own pace while still getting some great pictures in the mean time. For an affordable DX format camera, this is a huge bang for the buck, and I would encourage anyone trying to get into photography to go with this. One caveat is that I would not recommend the 18-55mm kit lens. If you're buying the kit and can't afford buying the body only + a better lens, then it will do the job for a while. But even as a novice, I started running into the limits of this lens very soon after I started shooting. Again, it's fine to learn on, but I would consider investing in a better all-around lens that will complement the sensor in the D5200. Pick up a Nikon 35mm or 50mm prime, and a Sigma 17-50 or 17-70 (or something similar..I bought the 17-70 because it balanced what I wanted at a fair price, but there are lots of options, focal lengths, and brands to consider) for a medium zoom lens, and you will be set. All these are faster, sharper, better in low light, affordable, and will give you professional quality pictures with this camera, without going into some serious debt. It's always worth bearing in mind that a good photographer will be able to get good pictures with ANY camera/lens combo, so better gear is not ever a substitute for learning and practicing, but I can't really think of any good reasons to stick with the 18-55mm kit lens, other than a temporary way to start learning. To sum up: I love this camera! And now that I've spent half a year practicing, and upgraded to better lenses, I love it even more!

Comments about D5200 Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm Lens (Black):

The recent purchase of the D5200 was more than I could have imagined. The picture quality is outstanding, the auto mode does all the work and with all the advanced features this camera has it will be full of more great surprises. Now for the baseball, I am known as the camera guy at the ball park. My son plays 12u baseball and the quality of picture this camera delivers is second to none. I set it to sport mode and the camera does all the rest. I'm sure the more money you spend the more you might get but the price of this camera at B&H, it was an easy purchase for me. I glad I did! One last suggestion, I purchased the Nikon AF-S 55-300 ED Vr lens and it is beautiful…. Must have.

Finally decided to upgrade my D40X, that has given me great service over the years, mainly for the ability to shoot video. Very pleased so far, takes noticeably better stills and great video. This was a good upgrade. Also like the swivel LCD.

Comments about D5200 Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm Lens (Black):

Bought it as a trade in upgrade from the D3200. Couldn't be happier. Shots are NOTICEABLY better than with the D3200, PLUS B&H gave me a GREAT trade-in ($) for the D3200. About me: amateur, but very experience photo enthusiast. I shoot a fair amount of aircraft, animals, sports and outdoor landscapes. I've only had the D5200 for a couple of weeks, but here's what I've experienced so far: Excellent clarity and sharpness except in highest zooms with my 300mm lens AND my 2X converter attached (honestly, this is probably expected). The user interface is much easier and more intuitive. The high ISO counteracts it's C- performance in low light -- nearly making it a moot point. I love the "EFFECTS" and "SCENE" modes; they're fun to play with. Although I usually use the eyepiece, I love the TILT/SWIVEL LCD screen. It makes awkward shots much easier to take great shots. In the price range, there really aren't a whole lot of "CONS". I haven't had a chance yet to try video.Great camera at the price.

First off, I love the red color. Which I debated on getting red or balck and decided why not. I'm glad I did. As for the actual camera, I upgraded from the D3000 to this one. I needed a camera that had better ISO capabilities so I could shoot better photos of my kids indoors without having to use the flash all the time. This camera lets me take great photos: clear and bright. I do like the screen, but I was ok with the screen on my old camera so it's not been a HUGE advantage. The way you change the settings is different so I'm relearning where some of the setting changes are located, but that just takes a little reading of the manual and I should be fine. The only complaint is that the battery doesn't seem to last as long, but then again I was shooting with video and live mode, which I'm sure zaps more energy considering my previous camera didn't have those capabilities. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase!
