This lens is razor sharp wide open, with lovely OOF characteristics, or what the experts on the net refer to as "bokeh".

Like the 19/2.8 and the 30/2.8 Sigmas for the E mount, this lens is destined for cult status—an accolade made even more amazing considering its truly inexpensive cost.

These three lenses are the basic kit for all NEX owners, I feel. AF is fast; MF aids on the NEX 6 in particular allow you to focus accurately on a sitter's iris, and be certain you have nailed focus.

My only reservation is the new shiny finish of the focussing barrel; I prefer a bit more grip, but I will get used to it.

I returned this lens due to really loud noise emitted when normally handling the lens. It was as if there was something metallic inside the lens totally loose.

Before returning, I mounted it on my Nex-6 and took 2-3 pictures. When mounted, the lens was much more quiet and the quality of the images appeared OK. There was still some noise though, and I assume this would be picked up if one was shooting movies.

Too bad, as it is light, small, and appears well made.

To me this is one of the best lenses that is made for the Sony e mount. Super Super sharp a still for the price. I have had canon L lenses that wasn't as sharp as this little guy.

Comments about 60mm f/2.8 DN Lens for Sony E-mount Cameras (Silver):

Very sharp, even wide open, even sharper than the Sony 50mm f1.8. Light and small. These Sigma lenses have a little noise when NOT in use, as if a pebble is loose inside the unit. I called Sigma customer service. This is by DESIGN. There is some kind of magnet that floats when in use, and when not in use, simply knocks around. I don't get why this was necessary but it sure does work well.I love having this defacto 90mm (35mm equivalent) for taking portraits. Check the ratings at Dxomark, their list of recommended lenses. This is #2, just under the [$] Zeiss 55mm, and it sells for under [$]

Comments about 60mm f/2.8 DN Lens for Sony E-mount Cameras (Black):

The reviews of this lens are pretty high, so I was expecting a lot. And i wasn't disappointed. It's a fun focal length to work with on the A6000, making it a mild telephoto. The thing that is most noticeable is how sharp it is. Comments have been made about it easily scratching, but if you handle it carefully, it should stay looking new for a long time. Maybe i was lucky with this particular lens but so far I have loved all the shots I have taken. And as is often mentioned, you can't go wrong for the price. I am still waiting for the 19mm, but that one has been back-ordered for a really long time. For now I will work with this one and see what it is best at. Great lens.

Comments about 60mm f/2.8 DN Lens for Sony E-mount Cameras (Black):

I have been in photography for over 40 years and have purchased Sigma lenses before and have been very satisfied with the products for the money.
I purchased a Sony a6000 in October of last year with the Sony 16 - 50 mm lense and decided rather quickly that I wanted a low light prime lens that I could use for portrate photography and lower light work. I read a lot of reviews by many independent sites and the most useful was U Tube showing hands on comparisons with other companies like lenses.
I purchased the sigma 60mm Art prime lense and can't believe the quality and how well this lens works with my a6000 . This lens is worth a lot more than what I paid for it,
          Quality and Precision .

I am using this lens with my Sony a6000. It is a great combination. The lens focuses very quickly. Contrast and color saturation very good. As mentioned in other reviews there is a noise in the lens when shaken. It seems odd, but it is designed that way. Once it is mounted and power is on, the internals tighten up, and the noise goes away. It comes with a nice pouch and lens hood.I am happy with this purchase and the performance of this lens.

I love this lens. I am using it with a Sony A6000. I am an amateur, but I have love this lens for out door portraits so far. I would probably be more comfortable if it had a rubber grip, I am afraid it will slip during lens changes but I like the results very much especially for the price.

This is as stellar lens for the price! The smoth body is not great for grip, but does look sharp. My only concern is the metallic sound when moving the lens/camera around. In older models the noise was noticed until the camera was turned on. My noise in the lens is always there. Hmmm.

This is definitely sharper than the Sony 50mm 1.8, although without stabilization. It is small and fits well on my Sony 5N. I wanted a couple of fixed lenses to use with it. I also have the Sigma 30mm. The only downside is the slick focusing ring, if you plan to manually focus. If not, that's a non-issue.

The Sony 50 f/18 is on the shelf now, and probably will stay there.

The first thing I noticed about this lens is the impressive extreme sharpness, and ability to focus real close. There is an internal rattle when the camera is turned off, but it does not seem to affect anything and does not bother me. The only issue I have is the pronounced flare when shooting backlit images. I was able to fix it in Lightroom because it is even, but I find it quite bothersome. I used the lens for three months before this happened to me.

I would easily give this lens five stars if it was not for the backlight flare issue. The sharpness is amazing.

Great with my NEX 5N. Don't need a viewfinder now that I can AUTOFOCUS.VERY SHARP. Those are the things I like (UPPERCASE). Has a squeegy noise when focusing, don't know if that is normal or a sympton of something that is going wrong, but has it since I opened the box, so I assume it is OK. My photos are sharp and it is fast focusing.

I really have that finally i have a modern lens that has AF with a Sony NEX 5 N . Since i don't like the Sony lenses this is a heaven sent. The 60mm is perfect because in outdoors i can focus in a general direction, since you can see nothing on the NEX screen. The only cause of concern is a squiggy sound i hear while focusing. Hope that proves to be normal.

Comments about 60mm f/2.8 DN Lens for Sony E-mount Cameras (Black):

I normally shoot Leica and other premium glass on the NEX-7, and also shoot a Nikon D800E. I am extremely picky about sharpness. I took some test shots with this lens at f2.8 and was fairly blown away with the stellar image quality (just as the Photozone graphs depicted). I have tried a number of the Sony NEX lenses and was alway disappointed (with the exception of the 10-18mm f4). This lens, however, is a winner! I cannot believe the incredible cost/performance ratio. This is a must-have portrait lens for the NEX system. Also, the bokeh is quite pleasant.

Comments about 60mm f/2.8 DN Lens for Sony E-mount Cameras (Black):

I bought this after the 19 and 30mm lenses I have from Sigma for my NEX. They are a great and compact kit I have taken with me in several trips and hikes. And they produce amazing results for the price. I emphasize "for the price" because there is nothing in this price range with the IQ I can get from this little gems. The 60mm is not exception. I dare say it is sharper than the other two in the center from wide open. And sharpens a little more down to 4.0. The corners are so-so in all the three lenses. That is less important with the 60mm, because I have bought it for portraits. The corners don't seem to sharpen up stopped down. Flare is not that ugly and that is solved if you use the hood. Bokeh is nice. The only thing I would change is the focus ring. THe slick design is flawed. Mine is full of fingerprints. But it is well dampened and manual focus is easy.

Comments about 60mm f/2.8 DN Lens for Sony E-mount Cameras (Black):

I have been a user of the 19mm and 30mm primes from sigma on my 5N.

They are an outstanding cost-benefit and have amazing IQ.

I pre-ordered this from B&H as soon as I heard about it.

It was no mistake. The lens is amazingly sharp. Even sharper than the other two to my eyes.

                        The bokeh is smooth.

The rattling noise is the same when the camera is off.

The only thing I did not like is the focus ring. It is slippery. But the build quality is a step above the other lenses in the sigma prime line.

                        A very good buy

Comments about 60mm f/2.8 DN Lens for Sony E-mount Cameras (Black):

I returned this lens due to really loud noise emitted when normally handling the lens. It was as if there was something metallic inside the lens totally loose.

Before returning, I mounted it on my Nex-6 and took 2-3 pictures. When mounted, the lens was much more quiet and the quality of the images appeared OK. There was still some noise though, and I assume this would be picked up if one was shooting movies.

Too bad, as it is light, small, and appears well made.

Comments about 60mm f/2.8 DN Lens for Sony E-mount Cameras (Black):
