Comments about Samsung NX1100 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 20-50mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens (Black):

I've had film cameras since the 1970's, digital cameras since the 1990 and DSLR's since buying a D40 about 10 years ago. I've now got a couple of DSLR bodies and a very good collection of lenses, tripods, bags, flashes, filters, slave flashes, etc, etc. Very unwieldy.I bought a NX1100 last Christmas as a gift of my wife and was immediately stunned by the image quality that the camera puts out, and not just in ideal conditions. My wife will shoot close ups that rival my full frame dslr with a 100mm F2.8 macro lens. I find myself constantly borrowing her camera. There is a saying in the world of people who have concealed carry weapons permits: "The best carry pistol is the one you have with you." My full frame camera bodies are too large, heavy and expensive to always have with me. For the past several years I've been keeping a P&S camera that takes decent shots in perfect conditions. But my experience with my wife's NX1100 is that it takes EXCELLENT shots in lots of conditions.I ordered mine a couple of days ago. I was thinking about a Sony NEX 6 or A6000 but there is a HUGE price difference and very little if any difference in image quality.Only negative is longed shot to shot time than I like. But I've got her camera shooting RAW files that run 25 meg. Probably be a lot faster shooting jpeg.I'll still haul my gear for shoots.

    bulb setting

    By andre

Comments about NX1100 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 20-50mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens (Black):

I have had this camera now for about a month, my only concern is if I want to take sone star trails with the 4minute max bulb setting how is it possible other than taking 100's off photos and layering them.?
My next question would be, how does on set the bulb setting timer to lets say 2.5minutes, without holding the shutter?

Is there anywayt to end the said 4minutes?
    Thank you
    Andre

Comments about NX1100 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 20-50mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens (White):

I have taken all kinds of photographs, including portrait, wildlife, scenery, sculptures & other art, other photographs (to enlarge them), multi-sequence photos to capture motion, as well as video. Captured many beautiful shots while in Italy. Couldn't be happier with it. So much so, I bought another (this one) for my wife!

Comments about NX1100 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 20-50mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens (Black):

All the NX line are really nice cameras. I opted for the 1100 as it had all the features I needed/wanted at a substantially lower cost than the NX2000 or the NX300. I also found the NX2000 reduced grip area offputting, even if a larger view screen was the reason. The NX300 is very very nice, but not (to me) worth the extra cost.

I have had the 1100 about a week and a half, and find it exceeds my high expectations of it based on other reviews. Outstanding image quality, especially when using one of the modes other than Smart. Smart works just fine, but I find I can get just what I want easily in Program and so find myself using that mode alot. I also notice the autofocus seems quicker and more certain for some reason off of Smart mode.

I also bought the 50-200 mm lens, which makes a nice addition. The kit 20-50 mm lens is also good, and of course, because of its range, is what is on the camera most of the time. I think either a 20 or a 30 mm pancake lens is in my future, but I want to use the camera more before ordering one.

The comments in re easily addressed menus are true - well though out and quite clear. As others have mentioned, the build quality seems high. The access door to the USB port for instance snaps open and closed with a sturdy smooth feel - not cheap at all.

Overall, I am very happy with the camera.

Great camera for the price. I attached photo taken with Nikon lens(lens adapter needed). You can shoot with Nikon or any non Samsung lens attached only in manual mode.

Small and handy for a second camera. I planned buying a more compact lens. The only issue is the plastic body, it feels a bit fragile. Excellent Camera.
