Great camera overall. I recommend buying a flash if you take a lot of indoor photos as the one onboard is not too good. I customized settings for landscape and portrait programs (I use it almost exclusively in P mode): turn up a sharpness quite a bit and a saturation a little bit. I purchased a spare battery but I hardly ever use it as original lasts a long time even when I use a flash. Of course, I use LCD only to check/change settings.

So far, after a week or so, I've been disappointed with this camera. I am a beginner/ intermediate with a camera. I've owned a many point-and-shoot and (all-in-one) super-zoom lens cameras - a Panasonic DMC-FZ100. Back in the day, I had an old Minolta slr film camera plus using my father's Canon AE-1 and A-1. I've had a photography class and developed my own negatives and prints. But I'm also an intermediate videographer. Along with the thousands of hours of videos I've shot, I've also worked with my wife who is the real video expert. I've shot videography onto mini-dv, SVHS/VHS, ¾", sd cards both on single and 3-chip cameras. We edit our videos - my wife with Adobe Premier and me with Pinnacle Studio 14. What I was looking for was a DSLR camera that could get me back into true photography, but would allow me to shoot acceptable videos - that way I could follow both my passions with a single device.
After a bunch of searching, I found Canon's T5i, an entry level DSLR, which said it could satisfy both my needs. I combined it with an EF-S 18-135 IS STM Canon lens. While this camera has been very good for photos, I have NOT been happy with it as even a makeshift video camera. Two things have made me unhappy. First, it only shoots in MOV format. Great if you're a Mac enthusiast, but not a favorite for us Microsoft users. I fear showing these clips to my wife. Heaven forbid they don't go into both of our editing softwares seamlessly. Second, I can't take a photo while recording video (without destroying my video!) Maybe I'm the only one who does this, but this is a favorite use of my previous camera, the Panasonic DMC-FZ100.
So, at least for now, I'm back to carting around two devices - my Canon - Great for photos - and a Sony Video Camera - great for videos. I think I'd feel a lot less cheated if Canon hadn't advertised this camera as such a great Video machine. Maybe after more weeks and months of practice, I'll be more comfortable relying on this for video, but right out of the box, I feel unfulfilled.

Comments about Canon EOS Rebel T5i DSLR Camera with 18-135mm Lens:

Great all-around lens and body. Does well in low light for a zoom lens with decent all purpose range. This lens will be used 90% of the time and then will shift to specialty purpose high power zoom lens when needed for sporting events for the kids events.

Automatic mode is useful for novice to take decent pictures, and menu system is easy to learn in short order. Have not tried the video much to comment on it at this point.

Comments about Canon EOS Rebel T5i DSLR Camera with 18-135mm Lens:

I shoot mainly documentary films, but do promos and photography on the side. Having shot video with a DSLR for less than a year now, I am quite pleased with the usability of this camera, and the lens is quite flexible, which will serve my purposes quite well until my budget allows me to purchase some prime lenses. I love the touch screen tilt/swivel LCD. I didn't realize how helpful it would be until I started shooting the videos with it. I do wish it had a wheel control on the back rather than the four separate buttons, but with the touch screen, I can't complain!

I did one shooting sessions so far and pretty happy with it. It's my first dslr so user-friendly component is very important to me. I was able to play around with it and figure how to shoot different modes without too much problem. I do wonder now though, if maybe I shouldve gotten the t4i instead and spent more on the lense.

Best camera for starters not only in photography but in video too. This camera is really cheap but we'll rounded, although if your photographing skateboarding like I do move on to a camera with higher frames per second.

Comments about Canon EOS Rebel T5i DSLR Camera with 18-135mm Lens:

This is a fantastic camera! After having two Nikons in a row with lens issues I figured I'd give Canon a try. It was a fantastic decision. The photo quality, features, and ease of use make this camera a winner. I got it the day before I went on a trip so I didn't have time to read the manual or practice different settings, but I quickly figured out how to work even the most advanced setting on it. The camera is made of really nice materials and has a really nice, premium feel to it.

Comments about Canon EOS Rebel T5i DSLR Camera with 18-135mm Lens:

Very easy to use. I purchased several of these cameras for a magazine production course. The students are able to shoot in full-auto and get nice results, but when they are ready to move into more manual shooting, the camera really performs well.

I also like it can use my higher quality lenses. I don't encourage the use of the LCD unless shooting video, but when in video mode, the screen is a tad small. Not much real estate back there, so it isn't a big deal considering the other features of the camera.

Comments about Canon EOS Rebel T5i DSLR Camera with 18-135mm Lens:

For years I have been taking pictures with a high-megapixel digital point-and-shoot, and then spending hours thereafter editing the jpeg images with Photoshop.

I finally decided to upgrade to a real DSLR, and, after much deliberation, decided upon the Canon EOS Rebel T5i.

I'm just only just beginning to understand the full range of the camera's functions. Nevertheless, at this point, I'm totally amazed at its capabilities, and I'd be sure to recommend this camera to another advanced photo novice who's ready to take the leap into DSLR photography.

Great sensor, fast processing, no delays at all and beautiful photos. This bundle with 67 mm lens bring more flexibility to take shoots on darker and lighter spots. I do recommend

Comments about Canon EOS Rebel T5i DSLR Camera with 18-135mm Lens:

I couldn't have made a better choice when I chose the Canon Rebel t5i as my first dslr camera. Very easy to navigate and use. Love all the manual setting options. The best option is the touch screen with multi view positions for great photos. Excited to join my first photography class at the end of January to put this amazing camera to good use.
