I have a love hate relationship with my Fuji X-E1, but I just love everything about their lens. They are an amazing value despite some who complain about their price. They are well worth it and some of the best glass you can get for any mirror-less camera. The new XF 55-200 is built out of the highest quality materias. Feels great in the and and does not feel front heavy at all. It has the best feeling Apature ring of any of the variable XF that Fuji has made so far, and the zoom has the right amont of resistance. Stabilization is very active and works wonders keeping every shot amazingly sharp in every situation. This is my new outdoors lens. From portraits to shooting wildlife its well worth the price.

Comments about Fujifilm XF 55-200mm f/3.5-4.8 R LM OIS Lens:

Tack sharp, compact & great focal length (80-300m), i would compare it to my Canon 70-200mm f/4L + 1.4x Converter for sharpness & speed.

I actually think the OIS (Image Stabilisation) on the Fuji, is (dare i say) better than the Canon!!! there it is i have said it!!

I was considering the 18-135mm however i want the extra reach, and i have absolutely zero regrets, this lens is awesome for the price/size/weight! it really justifies my shift from my Canon 5D Mk3 & 70-200mm f/2.8 Heavyweight!

I can't speak highly enough, and it also focuses well in low light if you know how to use your camera ;)

Comments about Fujifilm XF 55-200mm f/3.5-4.8 R LM OIS Lens:

Changed from a DSLR to a Fuji mirrorless camera thus needed new X-mount telephoto lens. So far I am pleased with the automatic focus and the quality of my images. I am especially pleased with the size and weight of this lens as I was tired of the larger DSLR camera and very heavy telephoto lens I formally used.

I bought this for a trip to France with the Fugi X-T1. I used it sparingly as I was close to most of my subjects on this trip, so used the 18-55mm. But, I was impressed with the shots I did use it for.

About the same as my 70-300 4,5-5,6 Nikon vr2, for about the same price, a little lighter.

Nikon will provide better bokeh however as the far end (5,6 f-stop vs 7,2 for fuji, 35mm eq)

Not for sport or aviation or bird photogrphy, great for landscape closed down

I bought the XE-2 to still be able to use my Contax G lenses in the digital world. It sure adds more options to be able to have a decent telephoto on a rangefinder similar camera.

Another stellar Fujifilm lens! I was expecting the sharpness to diminish as the lens is zoomed out to 200, but it holds up quite well and the stabilization really works where you need it at the long end. Compared to most of the lens line-up this lens is large and heavy, but getting that 300mm eqivalent is well worth the bulk.

It isn't going anywhere! In man effort to complete my transition from Nikon to Fuji, I need a zoom that covers the 70-200 range. I picked this one up to fill the need until the 50-140 ships later this year. Now that I have it, I don't plan to get rid of it. It'll undoubtedly take up permanent residence on my X-E1 while my X-T1 shoulders most of the load. I'll still get the fast zoom when it comes out because I need the reach coupled with speed, but the quality image files the 55-200 produces on both bodies definitely does not deliver what one typically associates with a variable aperture zoom. Sharp from end to end and at any aperture, and fast focusing on the T1, this lens is easily worth much more than the asking price. It's a downright steal when compared to Nikon offerings (as have been all Fuji's XF lenses so far). It isn't going anywhere! Normally I would prefer a prime lens. But there are situations where you really need a zoom. So I was very positively surprised with the results (using a X-T1). The sharpness is brilliant and the stabilization works just fine. I played with it for a sports situation (riding/show jumping) and the results where great (not as good as my Canon 5DIII with the 70-200/2.8, but this would be the gold standard for me as the 5D/lens combination is just outstanding). Even portraits worked very well. I was struggling with the focus tracking but that may be missing experience with this camera and lens.

Comments about Fujifilm XF 55-200mm f/3.5-4.8 R LM OIS Lens:

I traded my Canon 6D and great quality glass in for a X-E2 with three Fuji lenses, the 14mm, 35mm and this 55-200. I did this because I picked up an x100s and loved it. The 6D with my Sigma 35mm 1.4mm lens was a pixel peepers dream. Tack sharp, great color and contrast rendering, absolute magic came out of that combo. And while the x100s was technically inferior in almost every way, and lacking quite a bit of the magic pop factor, after walking around for two weeks and tacking tons of side by side comparisons, something dawned on me. The 6D was much better with low light, the Sigma much sharper wide open and stopped down, but at the end of the day, when I went to make 13x19" prints with my Pixma Pro-100 printer, nobody could tell the different between which camera was which. Right then I decided that while the Canon 6D is a technically superior camera, it wasn't worth the weight, bulk, expense, conspicuousness, etc.

Now my transition to the full on, full time Fuji setup has been a bit of a mixed bag. My images are generally speaking, not making me happy quite the same way they used to with the Canon. The good images are a little less good, and they seem a little less consistent to come by. I find the gear incredibly fun to use, way more so than the Canon, and I do feel like I'm getting more and more used to it and steadily getting more keeper quality images.

This 55-200 lens, however, has been exceptional from the beginning. The OIS works great, and I am able to get tack sharp shots a 1/30th of a second at 200mm (300 equivalent). That is awesome. The color/contrast/sharpness of this lens seem to all be superior to that of the other two Fuji lenses I got, and not by an insignificant margin. Pretty amazing considering the prices of the respective lenses and what you get as far is OIS and wide focal length range on this one.

I will say that variable aperture lenses kill me, I really just hate them. That is my biggest negative, along with the fact that this is a SLOOOOW lens as far as aperture is concerned. I got it during a Fuji rebate promo that makes it cheaper than the original asking price by a good amount. If not for this, the lens would not be as good of a value, specifically because of the variable aperture and slow aperture range. I would have given it 4 stars at full price. It is a very consistent and sharp lens though, with good autofocus performance. The enclosed pics demonstrate this lens' abilities. The pic of the print was taken wide open @ 200mm @ 1/30th of a second, in pretty poor light, and super sharp. The live performance pic was taken at a venue with just TERRIBLE lighting, 95mm, wide open, also at 1/30th of a second, at ISO 3200, just to get the little bit of light that I could, and also incredibly sharp. I'm impressed. Cannot wait to see the performance (and price) of the upcoming 50-140mm f2.8 lens that's on the horizon.

The lens is pretty awkward on the X-E2 since it is so big and weighs more than the camera, but really if you practice good form and keep your left hand under the lens than it is not more than annoyance, not a deal breaker by any means.
