Comments about 1 NIKKOR 32mm f/1.2 Lens (Black):

While the crop factor on the 1" sensor increase depth of field compared to similar effective focal lengths on larger sensors, this lens provides great shallow depth of field. I like having the longer reach for portraits since I don't like being in the face of subjects, especially unsuspecting ones. This lens delivers in spades!

Comments about 1 NIKKOR 32mm f/1.2 Lens (Black):

This is a pro level lens for the 1 series. Built better than most of Nikon's full frame AFS lenses with solid metal body and super smooth manual focus ring.

This is the best lens in the Nikon 1 mount. Super sharp, fast focus, nice bokeh

Comments about 1 NIKKOR 32mm f/1.2 Lens (Black):

As advertised, this lens is a replacement for a full-frame 85mm lens. However, because of the frame size, the DoF is a bit greater than that of the 85mm. For example, at f/1.2 and 10 feet distance the "85" on a film camera has a 3.5" DoF. Under the same conditions, the "32" on a 1-Nikon body has a 9.25" DoF. Although noticeable, it is acceptable.

Going a bit further, DoF markings would be real nice to allow focusng at hyperfocal distance.

Comments about 1 NIKKOR 32mm f/1.2 Lens (Black):

I've been using this lens for a month and all I can say is WOW!. It is small, lightweight, incredibly well built, super fast, great in low light and sharp as a tack. The sharpest and most professional lens for a V1 or V2. Of course it won't have the same DOF as an 85mm lens on a full frame DSLR, but that's OK. Nevertheless, great bokeh and out of focus rendering. Not inexpensive, but well worth the price if you are serious about taking your N1 system to higher level. An f/1.2 lens for your N1 camera - enough said.

Comments about 1 NIKKOR 32mm f/1.2 Lens (Black):

It is a bit frustrating that there are no markings whatever on the lens itself but I knew that before making the purchase.

I purchased it to mimic an 85mm lens on a full-frame camera and it almost does it. The one surprise is the DoF. While narrow enough for my purposes, it's not as slim as an 85mm lens with FF. Admittedly, I should have realized this ahead of time but, fortunately, the difference is not enough to impact my usage of the lens. Example: at f/1.2, this lens has about nine or ten inches of DoF while the 85mm on FF has only three inches.

Comments about 1 NIKKOR 32mm f/1.2 Lens (Black):

My first outing with the new lens told me what I wanted to know, that cranked wide open in evening shade, I could easily and crisply capture motion, without needing to boost my ISO above the basic 160 (I was using a Nikon 1 V2). I was photographing dancers in a park and the gorgeous f/1.2 bokeh nicely blurred out spectators in the background. Results were more than satisfactory.

An unexpected bonus was the fact that for the first time ever, I actually needed to step back to take portraits. The 86mm-equivalent focal length of this lens was made to order for such a situation. Never did a performer need to feel I was crowding in on them.

I own all of the 1 Nikkor lenses (other than the PD zoom) and this 32mm f/1.2 now holds a special place among them. Yes, well worth the price.
