I bought this for 'astro photography' on my Nikon D7K - hoping to capture the Aurora Australis. It is sharp even wide open at f2.0, but I found that the focus markings on the barrel are not accurate. So do some testing first! This is the first non-Nikon lens I have ever bought and while it is definitely not up to Nikon build quality - at this price you can't complain!

follow up to my earlier review. I had an issue with this lens focus ring. Made several attempts to contact customer service , it wasnt until I gave negative review on their Facebook page that I finally got a reply. They eventually replaced my lens but when it was sent to canada I got dinged duties for a new lens because they failed to fill out proper paperwork for the return lens. Cost me an additional $[$]to get the lens. I am happy with the results I get but cust service is lacking.

Comments about Rokinon 16mm f/2.0 ED AS UMC CS Lens for Nikon F Mount:

I'll keep this short and to the point: this is a fantastic lens, regardless of price. But at this price, no self-respecting street shooter should be without it. Sharp as a tack on my D7100 from f/2.8 to 11, it is on par with my other favorite lens, Nikon's suberb 24/1.8G (35mm equiv. aps-c). To tell the truth, for the kind of stuff I do--urban landscapes, abstracts, etc.--I prefer to work with the Rokinon's clear distance scale and buttery manual focus (and wider field of view). If you do urban landscapes, urban abstracts, or more traditional street photography, this is a no-brainer.

One note: the first copy I received from B&H was decentered, and not just a little bit. As always, they hooked up an exchange immediately, no questions asked. Don't let this put you off, though. I went through the same process with the Nikon 24/1.8G which is twice as expensive. 24mp crop sensors are tough on WA lenses. But find a good sample of this Rokinon and watch it blow the doors off that mighty little sensor.

I used this lens for nighttime time lapse photography. Its wide angle is great without the fisheye distortion. Its fast enough for great exposures at an affordable price. I use it with my Nikon D3300.Example work can be seen here[@]

    Good Value

Comments about Rokinon 16mm f/2.0 ED AS UMC CS Lens for Nikon F Mount:

This is a very sharp lens but you can definitely see the CA and barrel distortion, both of which are correctable with software. Also prone to flare so you need to be aware. But...definitely good value and an f/2.

Comments about Rokinon 16mm f/2.0 ED AS UMC CS Lens for Nikon F Mount:

I wanted to try more astrophotography shoots but didn't want to spend a fortune for a lens that would do the job. I saw a recommendation for this lens in an article on capturing the milky way. For the price this is a very nice piece of glass and is great for landscape and astrophotography. It has a nice wide aperture and wide angle making it ideal for what i was looking for in a lens. I also really like the fine adjustment of the focus. Most lenses have too sensitive of a focus making it difficult to get sharp crisp night sky pictures. I've taken some incredible pics with my Nikon D5000 and can't wait to try it out on my new D750 i just ordered. I would recommend this to anyone looking for an affordable landscape, cityscape, and astrophotography lens. It does the job and doesn't disappoint.

Great for shooting the night sky

    By Troy

Comments about Rokinon 16mm f/2.0 ED AS UMC CS Lens for Nikon F Mount:

I purchased this lens specifically to do a night shoot. The lens connected to my Nikon D3200 perfectly. After a few setting adjustments on the camera I was ready to start shooting. The lens came with a lens cap, hood and storage bag. I am very satisfied with the results of my first ever night shoot. Great lens for the money!

I use this lens for interior architectural work. Very little distortion and the metering with the Nikon is spot on. Very close focusing for a wide angle, and the corners are reasonably sharp, even @ f 2.0. Great value for the money!

Comments about Rokinon 16mm f/2.0 ED AS UMC CS Lens for Nikon F Mount:

Wide angle lenses are my favorite because it allows great depth of field especially for street photography. The 16mm (24mm with full sensor) and f2 make it ideal for average light and more...The manual focus, which is smooth, takes a bit to get use to but the focus is 3 ft. to infinity..what can go wrong.....Stopping down about 2 stops plus, like most lenses, gives maximum sharpness..
