This is an ideal street photography lens. "Solid" best describes it both optically and mechanically, and the 41mm-equivalent focal length allows working close-in while maintaining a natural perspective. The lens is fast enough for my purposes — the Fuji sensors do quite well in low light so I'm not averse to pushing the ISO value when shooting indoors — and my experience is that the Fujifilm X-T1 and X-E2 both focus quickly and accurately with this lens under either bright or dim conditions. The "pancake" form-factor makes the lens very compact and light: on an X-E2, the combination feels almost weightless slung over my shoulder and, although it's a bit of a squeeze, fits in my jacket pocket. As usual, I immediately dumped the awful Fuji lens cap for a third-party product which (1) stays on and (2) has a flat surface conducive to storing the lens face-down.

I had high hopes for this 27mm lens after using the Fuji 18-55. The raw images from the 18-55 were excellent & needed very little adjustment but the lens was too big to make my X-E1 an everyday carry camera.

The size of the 27mm was just what I was looking for. I could carry my X-E1 in a jacket pocket and take it with me everywhere.

Too bad I was disappointed with the images from the 27mm lens under all conditions. I tried it for a week and without fail the images could not match those of the Fuji 18-55 for colour, contrast, vividness or sharpness. I expect to finesse a raw image in Lightroom but no matter what I did I just couldn't make the shots from the 27mm look decent. There was always that tried-to-salvage look to them.

I returned the lens.

Comments about XF 27mm f/2.8 Lens (Black):

I put this lens on my Xe1 and it is so small and light that I can easily carry it in my purse. The image quality is great and it is fast enough for taking pictures of activities at school where I work. I am using it mostly on my xe1 which doesn't have the fastest autofocus, but it adequately meets my needs. I also got it when there was an instant rebate that made it very affordable.

Comments about XF 27mm f/2.8 Lens (Black):

After using the product for more than 18 months thought i should post a review about this product, which can light other buyers. Best tym to book this lens is when deals come on B&H. i booked it at very low price at usd.$ in a deal of B&H online stores, it is originally on high price then it worth. but for this price little higher also it is worth if you want to carry your cam everywhere in your pocket.i use this on x-t1 and it is so small that it comes under the flash area.. so to put this is in my jacket i need to remove the flash from x-t1.it is perfect to take in any late nite parties, where you are not allowed to take DSLR and other big cams.Just remember it is 27mm so at actual you will get 41mm so in tight places taking group pictures of 6+ pax will be tough. lastly, dont forget to book the lens filter cover as u book the lens, as there are pretty good chances that you might loose the lens cap soon becz it is very small.Enjoy ..

Comments about XF 27mm f/2.8 Lens (Black):

The lens is decently sharp for the price but nothing compared to the 56 mm portrait lens they offer, for example. And the biggest downside to this lens is the cheap feel it has; I'm afraid it'll break pretty easily if not protected like an egg. It's also made in China (the only Fuji lens that is) which explains the lack of quality construction issues. It's worth buying if you can get it on sale and every once in a while B&H drops it to $ which is a good deal. Wait for it to go on sale and just use your 35 mm or 24 mm until then.

Comments about XF 27mm f/2.8 Lens (Black):

I really want to like this lens. The mixed feelings are very personalized but I'm sure others have the same. It doesn't have the image stabilization that the 18-135 has, which allows me and my fairly significant left hand tremor to hand hold at 1/4s. I have too many lost shots (and yes, I keep the SS up when I use it) to depend much on it. If I'm in perfect conditions, I like it a lot. I like the idea of getting a different cap though. This one falls off a lot. On the pro side: Love that it's small and makes the camera weigh nothing. Like the 27mm (40-41) view. Just really want Fuji to stabilize the prime lenses!

This is a must-have lens if you're an X-shooter. Extremely lightweight and compact, it essentially turns your X-E1/X-E2 into a pocketable camera. It's very sharp starting at F4. F2.8 is soft, but usable. It might be the fastest focusing x-mount lens also.Highly recommended, especially at the $ price point.

Image quality if very good for the price, but feels cheaply made along with its looks. The only lens in the FujiFilm line up that is made in China instead of Japan; very disappointing in that regard. Auto focus is fast but a bit noisy. Also does not come with a lens hood.

Sharp! I have an X-T1 with the following lenses: 14, 23, 18-55, 55-200. I wanted to take just one lens on a trip to California for a wedding. After a long time deliberating, I decided to purchase the 27 over the 35 because of size and weight. No regrets. The lens performed exquisitely and for the first time since the days of my Leicas, I was able to dilute myself into the crowd without interrupting anything or being too obvious. The same happened photographing the streets in Palo Alto and Mountain View. Excellent. Great, fast service from B&H, as usual.

I had been interested in the pancake for sometime. Wanted a smaller lens to have on my XPro1 for walking around. Fuji had a great sale on the lens so I had to jump at it.

So far I'm liking the results. Creates a nice photo and the size is what I was looking for. The camera with lens now fits very nicely in my messenger bag.

Comments about XF 27mm f/2.8 Lens (Black):

I use this lens quite a lot for street photography. It's sharp, it gives me about a normal 41mm field of view, and is very compact on my X-T1. I wish it had a manual aperture ring, but otherwise it's a fantastic little lens.

My headline says it all. Need to get used to the electronic aperture however. Bought a 39 mm to 52 mm adapter for UV and/or graduated ND filters. All worked as hoped for so I'm ready for any light. Fun and lightweight.

Comments about XF 27mm f/2.8 Lens (Black):

This small, sharp lens has excellent optical characteristics. It makes the smaller Fujifilm cameras pocketable. The draw back is that it does not have manual diaphragm and focus rings. So, you must rely on the camera's menu driven settings to exert control. Otherwise, a fine lens.

Comments about XF 27mm f/2.8 Lens (Black):

I reviewed my photos and found that I shot a sufficient number of 27mm +or- 5mm shots to justify this prime. The available reviews showed that it is very sharp and sharper than my 18-55mm which is much heavier. I generally do not use or need stabilization at 27mm but 1.8 would have been appreciated over its 2.8.

After a couple of weeks use I am very pleased with the 27mm. It has not missed focus which is very quick and the shots have been very sharp.

The lens seems to add almost no weight to the solid XT-1 which with this lens seems like a point and shoot.

With the current rebates I highly recommend the 27mm.
