Comments about Canon EOS 70D DSLR Camera with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 STM Lens:

This camera is a big step up from my canon t3i. I feel more like a pro now. plus it even looks the part too. I was able to make something out of nothing with my t3i, and now that I have the 70d, I will be able to do so much more. I love my camera.

Comments about Canon EOS 70D DSLR Camera with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 STM Lens:

I've had Canon Rebel T3, T2i, and now the vastly sophisticated 70D. I photograph race horses almost exclusively, and this model does exactly what they promised. Horses coming down the stretch are moving fast, and the focus is changing, but my 70D keeps up with it, giving me clear, well focused shots. With the zoom I can get the starting gate from across the track. And, I do not use a tripod.Glad I had two previous Canon cameras, so this one was easy to adapt to.Well worth the money.

Comments about Canon EOS 70D DSLR Camera with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 STM Lens:

The camera is great to start off doing DSLR video work and/or beginner photographer. The video quality is really good and the flip out touchscreen helps when doing handheld shots. I have been using the camera for some small video projects and the camera is holding up nicely. The auto-focus is spot on when shooting videos. I am pleased with the workflow and ability to easily use the video mode. As for stills, it has been working great. Color depth is decent and even with simple, cheaper lenses the pictures have been coming out good. Overall, a great little camera that is good as a secondary shooter or if you want to get into doing some video work.

Comments about Canon EOS 70D DSLR Camera with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 STM Lens:

I did a great deal of research into what sort of DSLR I wanted to purchase. After class, I'd come home and search for hours. During lunch breaks at work, I would watch YouTube videos about numerous Canon cameras (I just prefer Canon construction). Now I'm no professional and I've never taken a photography class before. So I wasn't ready to jump into a full frame camera. I really wasn't looking to purchase a camera for over $500. However, once I saw the Canon 70D, I was deeply swayed into making a larger investment. This camera has everything any novice or experienced photo-enthusiast would want. From the 20 megapixel sensor it has, to being able to take high quality photos at higher ISO levels than the Rebel series, to the exceptional video recording abilities it has... it's really a no brainer that anyone will be in safe hands with this piece of equipment.A few of the things that I find the most useful from this DSLR; in no particular order, mind you:- Touch screen: The ability to rapidly adjust a number of settings from one screen, much like a smart phone, is incredibly convenient. This means the user can spend more time focusing on actual photography and less time on the technology.- High ISO Quality: One of the reasons I chose this camera over any of the Rebel models is because you can actually shoot over ISO 400 without any noise on this camera. I don't begin to notice any noise/grain on photos until it reaches beyond ISO 1000. Even then, if one isn't looking for noise, it's not very noticeable until after ISO 1600.- 19 Point Auto-Focus: I had no idea what this meant before purchasing the camera. All I knew was that some other "competing" cameras only had 7 AF points. However, once getting this camera in my hands, I was really grateful for all these mysterious points. Instead of have auto auto-focus on (where the camera focusing on the center of the frame), you get to choose exactly where you want the focus of the frame to be. It's a little tough to explain, but trust me, you'll appreciate it greatly.- Articulating LCD Screen: That's fancy for, "Screen that swivels around so you can take selfies." Actually, it's fantastic for everything, not just for selfies. For example, I wanted to get a photo that had a good deal of background/sky in it. So I had my tripod at the lowest level with my camera lens tilted towards the sky. This made it very difficult to tell where the frame was landing. That momentary difficulty was cut short though, when I pulled out the screen and swiveled it into a position that was convenient for me. Super handy.- 8 FPS (Frames Per Second)/ High Speed Continuous Shooting: Now I haven't really had to use this setting, but the times that I have, I've been relieved to have it. In the case of shooting my puppies playing, or anything where the scene is moving fast, this setting has allowed me to nail the shot I want that I would have otherwise not have gotten with less FPS.- Video: I never had any intention of doing any videography, but this camera has a nice dual processing chip that makes it so when you focus on an object, it looks very smooth and fluid. You know when you focus on something with your phone and the focus goes past the object then comes back in? This camera doesn't do that. It functions much more like a camcorder, in that when it focuses, you click on the object and the camera focuses in the same way your eyes naturally do. And if you use an STM lens in conjunction in video taping, you'll be able to have a fantastic piece of equipment to tape with.- WiFi: Who doesn't love having a device that can connect with other hardware via wifi? There are a number of pro's to this camera, and those are just some of the biggest ones I enjoy. There truly aren't any cons, which I'm hesitant to say, since that's a big statement. But honestly, I'm 10/10 happy with the Canon 70D. It will last this next decade easily. The stock lens it came with (18-55mm STM f/3.5-5.6) is some great stuff as well. I'm incredibly pleased with the quality of the glass for a stock lens. It silently focuses, and quickly as well.

Comments about Canon EOS 70D DSLR Camera with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 STM Lens:

The 70D has many nice features & it takes very good pictures outdoors but it suffers from really bad noise in low light. Still pictures taken during video are often blurry & underexposed & are cropped to video proportions rather than the 3:2 format of regular stills. The flash will not fire for stills taken during video. The camera simply extracts one frame of the movie & does not downsample it to the 1080P format. There is a 1 sec break in the video for stills. This single frame is no replacement for a full 3:2 still frame taken where the flash fires & the shutter speed & aperature can be controlled by the user. The camera severely underexposes in back lit situations. You need in a good video light & even then, stills duruing video will often be blurry from the low shutter speed that the video uses. Actual videos look better because the high frame rate tends to fill in detail & hide grain that exists in any single frame. The camera has a large bright viewfinder & sharp rear LCD. It is heavy but balances larger lenses well & feels substantial & well made. If you use the camera outside or use a flash it takes very good pictures with good color. Outside videos are excellent. Available light still pictures & stills taken during video are very poor.

I already owned a 60D and wasn't sure what to expect. The 70D is a vast improvement - ironically it was TOO good of an improvement for the green screen setup I needed it for.

I can't imagine why anyone would buy anything more expensive to shoot video with than this camera - the quality just cannot be beat.

Comments about Canon EOS 70D DSLR Camera with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 STM Lens:

The 70D has a multitude of features, and I'm only a couple of weeks into it, but it's been great so far. Through physical buttons or the quick control feature on the LCD monitor, many shooting parameters can be very quickly altered (e.g. drive mode, auto-focus mode & point, exposure, f-stop, shutter speed, iso, etc). There's a lot of information in the viewfinder and plenty of manual control to alter settings without taking your eyes away. Focus speed and accuracy through the viewfinder seems excellent. In live view with older lenses, e.g. an early Sigma 18-200mm DC-OS, there was some hunting (haven't had a chance to look into this fully yet). Live view is excellent through the kit lens, and note that live view has touch-to-focus and the ability to take a picture without having the camera to eye. The high speed frame rate is welcome. Video is a revelation moving up from 5-year old cameras. Some of the scene modes are surprisingly useful, e.g. hand-held night shot. This is a solid, robust camera. The pairing with the plastic 18-55mm kit lens is not ideal. I got it because I had some older lenses with other focal lengths. Consider looking at other lenses, if you don't already own options.

Comments about Canon EOS 70D DSLR Camera with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 STM Lens:

Right now, rate at a 5. Everything I have learned to use is great, but I am not even close to knowing 1/2 its capabilities and settings. Touch screen is great. Battery life is better than I expected. Flash makes a noise when I 1/2 compress the shutter button and I am not sure if this is normal or a problem. Overall very satisfied!

My first Canon and I'm stoked. After a lot of research, I got the 70D. It suits my needs perfectly and it's as good as I expected. Amazing in many respects. Lenses are a little 'colder' than the Zuiko's but I know how to fix that. Video is sensational. Also really good value.

Read a lot about DSLRs and it came down to the Rebel T5i and the 70D. With the improved sensor and better video recording performance, this was an obvious choice for me. There were various other bonuses as well (too many to explain) but the benefits certainly justified paying a little more for a camera that I plan on growing into and learning how to great wonderful photos. Out of the box it's very easy to use and overall it's just a very solid camera.
