I do architectural photography and an articulating screen is a must. The Canon 70 D is the best camera out there today with this type of screen. Accuracy and speed of focusing has been improved significantly, and make this worthy of an upgrade on its own. I do a considerable amount of pole aerial photography for my architectural work and the ability to control the camera using my iPhone via the Wi-Fi function while the camera is 15 feet off the ground is a big help.

The image quality and resolution was already good with the 60 D and remains excellent. There is a noticeable difference in image quality at high ISO when shooting JPEG, but not so much when shooting in RAW. Shooting at extremes high ISO is something I do on occasion and I get very acceptable results (under exposure always produce more noise than correctly exposed images at a higher ISO). If you need a camera that produces great results at high ISO this camera cannot give you the performance of the D-5 or 6 D.

My only complaint is the way that Canon has rearranged the function buttons on the back of the camera. I was planning to keep my 60 D as a backup camera, but it will be very difficult to keep from pressing the wrong buttons when switching between cameras.

I've gone through two of these cameras now and both have had the same focus problem issues. Using the basic auto mode and looking through the viewfinder yielded un-sharp photos. Apparently, the 19-point auto-focus system was flawed, not focusing on the points indicated in the viewfinder, but on something closer in the frame. For instance, focusing not on the person sitting at a table, but on the edge of the table lower in the frame. The results were fine using live-view mode. The first camera also had a flash problem in basic mode where it would often fail to flash in a low light situation. The flash was fine in the replacement camera, but besides the blurry images in basic mode, it would always choose a high ISO speed, like 1600, insuring that all the images were somewhat grainy. I'm mystified by all the positive reviews of this camera, as it appears there is a systematic focus issue problem. I'm guessing many owners don't even bother with the basic mode setting. I usually don't but my wife does and the camera was for her. The camera has many positive qualities, especially for video. And if you never use the basic mode then you'll probably love it.

Comments about Canon EOS 70D DSLR Camera with 18-135mm STM f/3.5-5.6 Lens:

I am a professional videographer. I used to work with the 60D but then I decided to go one step up.
The 70D is almost perfect to work in video. The continue focusing system works perfectly with the lense of the kit (STM). And the touch screen to focus the part of the image you want opens many posibilities to play with this totally silent focus.
Its sensor is also a little higher than the 60D so the resolution is better and works better in low light situation. Using the noise reduction option, you can record using the light of a candle. It's amazing.
It has other new features that makes the 70D the best choice for recording video with a DSLR.
    There are only 2 cons:
    1) Why in the name of god of the cameras, they didn't put a headphones output to monitor the audio?
    2) Why didn't they put in this camera (like also happens in others DSLR) a serious preamp of microphone. I have an old Canon camcorder Optura 50 with a good preamp that I have to take with me to every job, and attach it to the 70D (mic to the old camcorder, then from the headphones output of the camcorder I attach a cable to the mic input in the 70D). It's ridiculous.

Comments about Canon EOS 70D DSLR Camera with 18-135mm STM f/3.5-5.6 Lens:

I purchased the 70D to use for video and I am highly satisfied with its performance. Video looks amazing and it is the most intuitive DSLR that I have used. The touchscreen is actually responsive and very useful and the autofocus during video works great.

I would highly recommend this DSLR to anyone wanting to great camera without needing / wanting to pay extra for a full frame DSLR.

If you are looking for great quality pics and like to take video, the Canon 70D is the ticket. I've been using the 5D, which is awesome, but the video features of the 70D are what I prefer. You can't go wrong with this selection.

The dials and menus are very easy to navigate through and customize. The Quick button is great for seeing and adjusting all the settings.

The color is very true - no odd hues, light balance is good too.

Still playing around with all it has to offer, but overall very pleased.

I have owned the EOS 70D for over 3 weeks and am extremely pleased and impressed. I do a little bit of everything from wildlife photography, scenery, pets and livestock, and more recently, videos. Great focusing, great video. I did video of night time rodeo events and even in the darkest areas of the arena, the videos are sharp and clear. Plus I discovered that while not video-ing, but still in video mode, I could get sharp/clear photos in the dim lighting. My biggest problem has been finding and using all the settings that are new to me. Just a matter of time!

I primarily shoot with a Canon 5D Mark II and wanted a second camera that I could mainly shoot video with and that would be compatible with my current lenses, batteries, flashes, etc. The 70D was the perfect fit.

This is my 2nd Canon 70D, I sold mine and bought a 6D full frame and did not like it. I missed the 70D's AF points so I sold my 6D and went back to 70D. The 19 AF points vs 6D's 9 really made the difference for me to switch back!

Comments about Canon EOS 70D DSLR Camera with 18-135mm STM f/3.5-5.6 Lens:

I shoot pro video with bigger cams. This was my first enterance into the DSLR world. I LOVE the AF and the munual touch screen features are tight. The kit lenses are ok.. but if you want to do more serious pro shooting you'll need to upgrade into some better glass, but the kit lenses will get you out of the gate. I was dissapointed with the HDMI output only being 480i. Really? It totally sucks and I was not expecting that. The lack of a headphone jack is annoying, but there are work arounds for that.

Photojournalists that freelance in video, look no further, the 70D plows the competition in its capabilities--both out of the box and its potential upgrades, add-ons, etc.--for quality video work.

I've used this for making excellent quality video packages for broadcast and freelance cinematography for short films, documentaries and feature films.

Not to mention, my main line of work as a photog, the 70D is a versatile tool for general news, sports, and breaking news photography. The blistering 7 frames a second becomes lethal with the right lens combo.

The 18-135 is a far better upgrade to the 18-55 kit lens if you plan to do a wide range of video work. The ghostly silent STM feature actually made me giddy when I first used it. Couple this with the "tap-to-focus" touch screen feature and you've got a pleasing combo.

I had high hopes for this camera. In numerous tests over the course of a few weeks I discovered that the AF system (at least for my camera) was not reliable. Seems to work fine for video (and by the way the video quality is fantastic); but in full Auto, and some of the other modes it is clear that the AF system gets confused; even when you specify where you want the 19 points to be; i noticed it even when using a flash. Online forum users explain the same issue in great detail. Its an awesome camera but unfortunately the AF system is just not reliable; and for me that is a deal breaker

I bought this camera as a backup to my Canon 7D. It's a great alternative when I don't want to carry a heavy dslr. I'm very impressed with the AF system. The only thing I don't like about it is the dial/joystick combo. I wish they didn't combine it but I guess it was necessary since there is not a lot of space at the back of the camera.

                        Perfect for beginners!

I bought this for video work, though it takes great photos as well. This is a great camera, and I love the app letting my shoot over wifi with my iPhone or iPad. The larger screen makes this fun!

Owned a T3I but wanted the extra perks of this camera. Have taken some very nice shots that I don't think would have come out as good with the T3I. Very fast focus...oh did I ay very fast focus. Was not to keen on it at first but now I love the touch screen.
