I do architectural photography and an articulating screen is a must. The Canon 70 D is the best camera out there today with this type of screen. Accuracy and speed of focusing has been improved significantly, and make this worthy of an upgrade on its own. I do a considerable amount of pole aerial photography for my architectural work and the ability to control the camera using my iPhone via the Wi-Fi function while the camera is 15 feet off the ground is a big help.

The image quality and resolution was already good with the 60 D and remains excellent. There is a noticeable difference in image quality at high ISO when shooting JPEG, but not so much when shooting in RAW. Shooting at extremes high ISO is something I do on occasion and I get very acceptable results (under exposure always produce more noise than correctly exposed images at a higher ISO). If you need a camera that produces great results at high ISO this camera cannot give you the performance of the D-5 or 6 D.

My only complaint is the way that Canon has rearranged the function buttons on the back of the camera. I was planning to keep my 60 D as a backup camera, but it will be very difficult to keep from pressing the wrong buttons when switching between cameras.

First of all I bought this camera primarily for video use. Let's start with the good. The dual pixel focusing along with the touch screen is awesome and I am sure it will only get better with future upgrades. STM lens is silent. Menu very easy to maneuver with the touch screen. Decent ISO, usable up to 2000 without too much noise.

Now to the bad, this camera deserves the title of Moire Monster. The moire when shooting scenes with patterns such as brick homes are gruesome and unusable. If you shoot a lot of patterns such as real estate video and landscape with homes this is not your camera, Nikon does much better. If you can avoid moire patterns then this is a great camera.

The moire takes away two stars it's that bad. To show you what I am talking about, attached are two grabbed frames from video (second photo at 150% zoom) Imagine those images at 24 or 30 fps and you get the idea. I am waiting for the 80d which is expected to be released this year 2016. Will purchase if it resolves the moire problems and is future proof with 4k, if not looks maybe will be going back to Nikon or moving on to Sony.

Purchased this model 12/23/13. Full Time real estate and architectural facility photographer. Well over 200,000 captures with this model. Most captures utilized the HDR in camera function. Cut post-processing time in half. In camera HDR function works well for real estate captures. Sadly shutter failure 3/2/16.

Comments about Canon EOS 70D DSLR Camera with 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 STM Lens:

I'll admit: I'm not a professional photographer. I am simply fascinated with taking pictures that hopefully inspire others. And this Canon EOS 70D has allowed me to do just that. I use this camera -- equipped with a nice, standard lens -- to capture nature, wildlife and sports.

While this version of EOS isn't well-suited for sports photography because of its relatively slow focus, I've loved using this camera to capture close-up images of leaves, wildlife, etc.

The clarity of the 70D's pictures is really outstanding. Considering this is an older model, I'm impressed with the ISO range and various shutter speeds. The f/stops are limited with this lens, but that's what I expected -- this model is best suited for aspiring photographers.

One qualm I have about the 70D: its low-lighting capabilities aren't what I had hoped for. However, if you have a tripod and you're trying to shoot long exposure, this camera works well.

Overall, I love the Canon EOS 70D. And I'll be able to use this camera for the next 10 years -- and upgrade lenses as I progress.

Comments about Canon EOS 70D DSLR Camera with 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 STM Lens:

If you want a versatile DSLR with good video capability then look no further! The dual pixel CMOS sensor does a very good job of keeping the subject under focus especially when they are moving. You can also easily change the focus just by tapping on the touch sensitive LCD screen. And couple it with the STM lenses and you have an unbeatable combination. The video subject tracking software is really smart. I tapped the screen to instruct it to keep the focus on my two year old's face. Then my son turned around and bent his head and it lost the focus but when he turned around again to face the camera the auto focus square immediately started focusing on his face again without any prompting from my side. It also automatically changes focus to the person speaking. These small and subtle features add up to great experience.

The auto focus is fast and accurate. The Auto mode on the camera is unexpectedly good in both picture and video modes. I was blown away by some of the scene modes especially the handheld night scene mode where it takes multiple pictures with different exposures and combines them into a single image.

I was also pleasantly surprised by the quality of the 18-135 mm f/3.5-5.6 STM IS lens. It's way better than my older 18-135 mm lens. I could take good pics indoors in less than optimum light conditions using this lens. Of course the high ISO performance of the camera also helped. The picture sharpness is best around aperture f/5.6. The lens served me well in the video mode as well. Even when I was zooming in and out on the subject it always kept it in focus. The video quality was great indoors and I couldn't even hear the whirring of the stepper motor. This lens comes close to being a good all purpose lens. I just wish that Canon introduces more STM lenses, perhaps a fixed aperture f/2.8 IS STM zoom lens? This lens was surprisingly good at taking Macro photos. I was able to take a really nice shot of a tiny orange all zoomed in at 135 mm and real close to the subject - the bokeh was extremely pleasing.

The only con that I encountered was camera shake while zooming in or out when shooting video, however a tripod can help prevent that.

This camera was recommended by a friend who knows more about cameras than I do. I wanted to upgrade from my micro 4/3rds for a couple of reasons. One was that I needed a wider range lens and could have just purchased a new lens for my 4/3rds, but debated upgrading to a dslr. I do not have a lot of camera knowledge of all of the settings, so wasn't sure this was a good fit. But after finding out there is an auto setting that will decide the best settings for me, even popping up the flash when needed, I knew this was the camera for me. And of course the quality of pictures you get with the dslr over a 4/3rds is unbelievable. The lens range is perfect, for both close ups and zooming into my kids on the basketball court. I am also amazed that snapping shots of my kids running around does not blur! I am in love with this camera and have zero regrets!

Comments about Canon EOS 70D DSLR Camera with 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 STM Lens:

This is my forst Canon DSLR, I have had others but the 70D wins hands down. I mostly use this for landscape, wildlife, nature and occasionally family portraits. The videos turn out great. The camera itself is very easy to use, much easier than the other brands of DSLRs I have used in the past. With the others I had to go through too many menus to change settings so I would leave them in Auto. With the 70D I leave it in Manual and adjust everything with the touch screen.

Auto focus does not work well.

I take my time to make sure of the focus but with or with out a flash about half of every thing I shoot is not in focus.

I am a professional , and shoot Nikon , but I got this because of the touch screen focus for video . It works perfectly ,I have shot stills with it and it perfoems very well ,i shot in low light and was very impressed I think those who say it does not do well ,dont know how to use it . I shot at 12000 and it looked good ,I shoot with D4s and it does better but this is very light and alot less money ,I have shot with it in good light and its very sharp

I really like my Canon 70D, having upgraded from a Canon 30D. I'm not always totally happy with the images I get from it at first impression, but I am often shooting difficult subjects (birds) in challenging conditions so my expectations are probably too high and I usually come around to realizing that the shot I got wasn't so bad afterall. I really like the camera controls and the camera fits very well in my large hands. Build quality is good. This is a great camera for the price, especially if you're already invested in Canon lenses. I love the soft shutter mode for wildlife photography.

I have used this camera for 10 months now and I feel happy with some of the pics I have taken with this camera. This is a great camera for first-time or semi-pro DSLR users. I wish it would be quieter.
