I do architectural photography and an articulating screen is a must. The Canon 70 D is the best camera out there today with this type of screen. Accuracy and speed of focusing has been improved significantly, and make this worthy of an upgrade on its own. I do a considerable amount of pole aerial photography for my architectural work and the ability to control the camera using my iPhone via the Wi-Fi function while the camera is 15 feet off the ground is a big help.

The image quality and resolution was already good with the 60 D and remains excellent. There is a noticeable difference in image quality at high ISO when shooting JPEG, but not so much when shooting in RAW. Shooting at extremes high ISO is something I do on occasion and I get very acceptable results (under exposure always produce more noise than correctly exposed images at a higher ISO). If you need a camera that produces great results at high ISO this camera cannot give you the performance of the D-5 or 6 D.

My only complaint is the way that Canon has rearranged the function buttons on the back of the camera. I was planning to keep my 60 D as a backup camera, but it will be very difficult to keep from pressing the wrong buttons when switching between cameras.

I've gone through two of these cameras now and both have had the same focus problem issues. Using the basic auto mode and looking through the viewfinder yielded un-sharp photos. Apparently, the 19-point auto-focus system was flawed, not focusing on the points indicated in the viewfinder, but on something closer in the frame. For instance, focusing not on the person sitting at a table, but on the edge of the table lower in the frame. The results were fine using live-view mode. The first camera also had a flash problem in basic mode where it would often fail to flash in a low light situation. The flash was fine in the replacement camera, but besides the blurry images in basic mode, it would always choose a high ISO speed, like 1600, insuring that all the images were somewhat grainy. I'm mystified by all the positive reviews of this camera, as it appears there is a systematic focus issue problem. I'm guessing many owners don't even bother with the basic mode setting. I usually don't but my wife does and the camera was for her. The camera has many positive qualities, especially for video. And if you never use the basic mode then you'll probably love it.

I mostly use it for video and its just awesome. And the AF for filming and also taking pictures is incredible. Perfect for Beginners. Awesome picture quality. The wi-fi lets you easy to upload your pictures on Facebook, Twitter, ... Only cons are to much noise if you go over about 1600 ISO and no headphone jack

Comments about Canon EOS 70D DSLR Camera with 18-135mm STM f/3.5-5.6 Lens:

I am serious amateur photographer and use the camera in sports photography (martial arts) and as a freelance journalist, both in print and the web. The video on this camera amplifies my work and positions me for more assignments that include web productions. The kit lens (18-135) is dead quiet as it focuses. The 18 focus points are quite precise. It will take some time to get fully acquainted with the many functions on the camera, but so far, I am loving it. The only drawbacks I've encountered are the layers of function menus and the complexity of the wifi operations, but that's a nit.

Comments about Canon EOS 70D DSLR Camera with 18-135mm STM f/3.5-5.6 Lens:

Excellent camera; I purchased it for video use, and have taken very few stills with it (vs. the 40K stills I shot with my 50D). As it's my first DLSR used for video, I find it easier to comment on what has been troublesome rather than what hasn't, but I should stress that it's worked very well for me as a video camera.

Image quality is great, though of course this is somewhat lens-dependent. The auto focus is quick, and only needs a very light touch on the screen, adding little or no jiggle. This is fortunate, because I find it almost impossible to rely on the LCD screen for manual focus; I've always use the viewfinder on the 50D, but unfortunately you can't use the viewfinder when shooting video with the 70D. It's also difficult to impossible to use the LCD screen in the open sun (these LCD issues may well not be unique to the 70D, but I've never had to rely on an LCD screen before).

Most controls and menus are reasonably intuitive and work as expected. About the only aspects in which I wish this camera was more like my camcorder are: 1) zebra stripes are lacking, and 2) the speed of the touch screen focus appears to be fixed, and at a high speed.

But don't get me wrong. I love this camera, and use it almost every day.

Comments about Canon EOS 70D DSLR Camera with 18-135mm STM f/3.5-5.6 Lens:

I Already had a DSLR camera before for 2 years and I wanted to upgrade to something better, with a higher quality sensor, a greater lens and a good resistant body.

Since I didn't want to get an expert camera (like the 7D) this was perfect and I haven't been disappointed at all so far, this camera is fast and takes sharp amazing photos under every circumstances (night, sunset, landscape, portrait, etc...).

The ergonomy is very well thought and almost all the settings are accessible pushing one or two buttons, which is important for me since I take almost only manual photos and I like playing with different settings.
The guide is very well thought and straightforward.

I really like the little screen on the top, that let's you make almost all your setting!
The rotative screen is very useful and helps protecting the camera when you travel.

I also choose this camera for the quality of the video and it is amazing!!

Finally, the touchscreen and the wifi didn't seem useful at first but they are great! You can watch your photos on your tablet or smartphone in just one click wherever you are so it's great when you are on a trip and you want to watch the photos or videos with friends.

The only issue with the DSLR cameras is that they are a little bit heavy, complicated to carry around and expensive. However I got used to it's totally worth it and now I can't got back to non reflex camera!!

The focusing issues with this camera are terrible using the view finder. I shoot professionally and never, ever would use the live view screen for shooting. I am now having to re-shoot a customers family portraits which is intolerable, due to unfocused portraits using both TV and AV modes. Very disappointed. There is NO DETAIL in eyes/eye lashes, fingers etc...just horrible..made me want to barf. I am hoping the 3rd camera I receive isn't such a HUGE disappointment. Save a few more dollars and get the new 7D when it comes out. I will be shooting my Rebel T2i as a backup camera to the "re-shoot" just to make sure I have beautiful, crisp, detailed images.

I bought the 70D a few weeks ago. I have a Canon 6D and it's great but it's a little difficult to focus sometimes. I'm still using that for dedicated wide angle shots. I'm on vacation in Colorado and just shot the Maroon Bells and a rodeo with the 70D and the EF 70-200mm F/2.8 IS II. Great results! Video was accurately focused. The crop sensor extends the reach of my EF 300mm F4 IS lens. Great pictures of Bull Moose and beavers. Individual hairs are visible.

Comments about Canon EOS 70D DSLR Camera with 18-135mm STM f/3.5-5.6 Lens:

This is a very good camera. The thing I like most about it is the focus. It is spot on. I also like the level control in the viewfinder. I like to make sure pictures are level and not tilted. I moved up from a Canon T5i and it was a very good camera; but I like the quicker focus with the 70D.
The camera has a good quality feel to it. If you want a camera that is very easy to use and focuses
quick and spot on, this is the camera for you. No comparison in video focus; it doesn't hunt, it just focuses! I could not get the canon image browser software to run on my windows 7. It will crash every time at 80%. I read where others were having the same problem. Talking with Canon they don't seem to have a solution. It would be nice if I could get it to work for editing video though. No reflection on the camera though.

Comments about Canon EOS 70D DSLR Camera with 18-135mm STM f/3.5-5.6 Lens:

I upgraded to the 70D from the 60D primarily for the enhanced video capabilities. The ease of access to the video function is a huge improvement (don't need to access or turn the mode dial - an easy to reach lever). The focusing with the STM lenses is also a significant advantage. Also, the video focusing with standard EF or EFS USM lenses is REALLY GREAT - it's just that you'lll hear the focusing motor, but not too bad - see below. Too early to tell if there is any significant image quality improvements, but I expect those may be minimal. One feature that I thought would be "no big deal" is the touch screen. Turns out, this is a GREAT new feature and significantly improves ease of use. One thing they did not get right is turning the wireless function on and off. Should be able to do it from the "Q" menu, but you cannot. You need to get into the actual menu for that. Also, don't quite get why you cannot be in video mode and use wireless at the same time - wireless is automatically disabled in video mode. As I've noted, the STM lenses focus in video seamlessly and without any noise - wonderful. However, I wish they were a bit better in build quality. I also get the sense form my initial use that optically they're not quite up to canon standards. For example I have the 18-200 EF-S lens and tho an "entry level lens" it's performance is terrific and I do believe it outperforms the STM 18-135. The STM 55-200 seems also to be a lightweight and I'm not sure I'll keep it. I think for long telephoto video, I won't really care much about the focusing noise (music and voice-overs will take care of that) - I will try using my USM tele's. I will update my review when I get back from Montana and Idaho and have really put it thru its paces. Finally, and no different from the 60D - I won't ever again have a camera without a tilt swivel LCD screen. For macro and video work there's no substitute! I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because the Wifi function is a bit of a pain.

I bought this camera to take pictures of my family. The images I have are great! The automatic mode takes wonderful pictures. Using the manual settings, I have taken some beautiful fireworks pictures as well. The video is fantastic. The neck strap included is uncomfortable, so you may want to purchase a neoprene padded neck strap.

I'm upgrading from a Canon XSi (Rebel 450) and this is a big leap in performance and features. I really like the 18-135 zoom range and it is so quiet. I'm just getting started so there will be a bit of a learning curve with the new features and different placement of controls, but I know I'm going to like this camera.
