I have only used this product on one occasion so far so take this with a grain of salt. I am very pleased with the product and its value. This is a complete package including two rechargeable (Sony-type) batteries + a two battery charger, "barn doors," a diffuser, cold shoe post, and even a smart carrying case. All seem to be pretty high quality. The LED unit also seems to be very high quality with receptacles for the two batteries, a digital display on the back which shows color temperature (which is variable), percentage of dimming, and battery life. Separate knobs control dimming and variable color temperature. The light was much brighter than expected and did a great job on the videos I shot. (Note that this is a pretty large LED panel for an on-camera unit so look elsewhere if you want something more petite and non-descript.) You can also buy additional LED panels. They are made to interlock compatibly with a slider on the side of each LED unit. Based on my limited experience (see above) battery life does not seem to be an issue with this unit. I have two criticisms so far, neither of which would dissuade me from purchasing this again. The documentation is pretty spare and rudimentary, diagramming only where pieces fit, but not how to use them. For example, it took me a little time to figure out that there is a tiny spring-loaded release knob that you have to pull on to slide the diffuser and barn doors in and out of their slots. There is nothing in the way of recommendations for use and care of the product. There is also no documentation for this unit found on the ikan website, probably because this is a relatively new product which they wanted to get on the market quickly. My second criticism is with the cold shoe post, which has a mini ball joint. While the post is sturdy enough, there should be a warning in the documentation because unless the cold shoe connection on the post is properly adjusted, the unit could easily slide out of a cold shoe mount which would obviously be bad. How to go about making this adjustment for a secure mount would be a nice thing to have in the documentation. I was able to get there, but only after some trial and error. Also the knob on the ball joint only controls vertical movement, but not horizontal rotation of the LED unit at all. Because of this it was easy for the LED to freely spin off target. I may look for a mount that dampens rotation at least somewhat. Lastly, a recommendation. Because this is such a large LED and sits so high, I did not feel comfortable mounting it in my camera shoe. I was a little concerned that maybe the high center of balance would exceed the design limitations of the shoe mount. Consequently, I mounted the unit in the cold shoe of a flash bracket (which itself was attached to the female tripod receptacle on my camera.) I felt more comfortable with that arrangement. Even better, I started looking for a relatively inexpensive rig to attach to along with, e.g., a shotgun microphone.

Comments about ikan iLED312-v2 On-Camera Bi-Color LED Light with Digital Display:

This is a very bright LED light that comes in a wonderful package. It packs down into a very convenient, well made zip up bag.

I wish it used something other than the sony batteries though because I have a huge amount of Canon batteries.

Still worth it though. It is very easy to use but I find that it is a little bit too large to sit on top of the camera. I feel like the talent will be off-put by its size. I have it on lighting stands anyhow.

If you are looking for a very portable, well-made, bright bi-color LED light, I highly recommend it. I've have used it on a few music videos now. Worked great!

Comments about ikan iLED312-v2 On-Camera Bi-Color LED Light with Digital Display:

This light may not look like much, but it produces a significant amount of light when needed, and smaller amounts of light when that's needed. The battery life is longer than you'll need on a one day project. Quite impressive really.
Initially I didn't think that the Digital display was a necessary feature. But when you're trying to sync up the color temperature with your camera, this comes in very very handy. It's also nice to know when you're thinking about your batteries and shoot time.
I purchased one of these a few weeks ago and I intend to buy two more this week. I believe they are all that I'll need for most of my projects.

Comments about ikan iLED312-v2 On-Camera Bi-Color LED Light with Digital Display:

I ordered one of these light because I was thinking about investing in one of the kits offered on BH. I have to say I am quite pleased with this light. The dimmable adjustment settings and the color temperature is a huge advantage when moving quickly on the go handheld with limited to no crew. I can mount this light straight on my cam and not worry about my subjects not being lit. The digital read out is a very nice touch, eliminating the need to fiddle around guestimating my light color. The light is powerful and light enough - it is a bit large and the barn doors are a sturdy metal build which can be very heavy and bulky - but they are highly functional. I will likeley invest in a kit of these, maybe the larger 508 ones - the battery portability just adds such immense versatility and setup speed for quick shooting. I will say it is best to use both batteries simultaneously when lighting with this unit - the unit at full output reduces a single battery life by half, so I recommend investing in some extra batteries. But what I REALLY love about this unit is the carrying case - it is elegant and functional with form fitting elements inside of it. Much nicer than those thin, floppy canvas things you usually get, though it is still soft.Overall I love this light, we'll see how long it lasts. It would be fantastic if this unit were around $, though overall I don't feel cheated

Comments about ikan iLED312-v2 On-Camera Bi-Color LED Light with Digital Display:

This is a solid light, packs up nicely in the provided case.
Gives good illumination, coverage and adjustable colour temp, not like all my other camera lights that have a very narrow spot.
A little bulky and with on camera use but the light you get is worth it.
        Works great on a stand.
The "comes with" batteries have a decent duration but could be a little better and multiple units can connect together.

Standard battery connector and voltage range make it very adaptable to many external power sources.

Over all, I'm quite happy with it.

Comments about ikan iLED312-v2 On-Camera Bi-Color LED Light with Digital Display:

I did a LUX test with my sekonic cine light meter at 3 feet(36 inches) mounted onto a stand. Results for 3200k, 4200k and 5600k:

        -3200k = 690 lux
        -4200k = 1500 lux
        -5600k = 790 lux

At ISO 400 for still photography 690lux allows for 1/125 shutter at F/2.8, 790lux allows 1/125 shutter at F/3.0 and 1500lux allows 1/125 at F/4.2.

A very workable light just not sure about bounching it or diffusing too much. It is nicely packaged with useful accessories and carrying case which is a huge plus especially those black aluminum barn doors! The build is plastic and feels a little cheap but it is light and the design and layout is nice. I'm curious about linking more of these lights together for a brighter panel of lights as i'm hesitant about investing more money into them if they'll even last a couple years. I bought this the iled312-v2 bi-color and also the iled312 spot with same accessories which is 3 times brighter but is a narrower beam of light unlike this one that covers about 8 feet wide by 6 feet high at about 6 feet from subject. Good buy for I think for three hundred fifty nine. It would be a better buy at two hundred so that one wouldn't hesitate buying more units and attempt making a panel of lights.

I would definitely purchase a real battery charger and real sony batteries however as they were difficult at first to insert batteries into charger and remove. Guess they needed some breaking in but they are the most cheapest parts of the set. Better than nothing i guess.

Comments about ikan iLED312-v2 On-Camera Bi-Color LED Light with Digital Display:

I've had one of these for a few months and it serves the purpose. I've used it mounted to a Panasonic HMC-150 for "Day in the Life" and pre-settlement videos in the legal field, and in brief promotional web spots for small businesses. While it fits on the camera, I'd say it's on the threshold of being unwieldy; any bigger and I think camera mouting would be impractical, and maybe even unsafe. I've found that using the barn doors cause the light to cast/reflect visible rows of shadow, particulalry as it gets closer to the subject. Consequently, they seem useless. Despite that, the rest of the kit includes everything you need, but not necessarily everything you want. I don't like the cold-shoe ball-mount that comes with the kit. It's difficult to seat on the camera, doesn't seem secure enough, and I've found it equally difficult to remove. I've taken to using the ball-mount that came with a 7" Marshall monitor I own, and I recently purchased a Manfrotto ball mount, which is heavier and rather expensive for a ball-mount, but is more secure. I'm glad I bought this light, as "Day in the Life" videos often require the camera to change position quickly or follow a subject, and this light allows for that, but that still requires some care, as it sits so high above the camera. Overall quality is OK to good, even though it's all plastic. I bought 2 of the large size batteries, which makes it even more top-heavy on the camera, but the light will run with only 1 battery inserted, whether a large or small one. In fact, I also recently bought the "sb" version (the spot), and intend to get another flood, giving me a 3 light kit that I expect would work well enough on stands for small, one-on-one web interviews. The dual-power feature (both DC and AC wall-wart) make it suitable for long-form shoots such as interviews.

good design. the batteries last a long time. I used it off and on throughout a long day and still had 25% battery left just using the 2 small batteries that come with it. It can take 2 large NP-970 batteries as well and, although I haven't tried it yet, I'm betting it'll last for days with 2 of those.
It's bright enough for most of my needs. In the sun it only fills in the face slightly, but helps a bit. The barn doors seem useless to me, but the diffusion is nice for wide angle shooting. The knobs feel good and the hot-shoe mount seems sturdy enough. The case is nice too and it's lightweight. Adjustable color temp and dimmer make me feel spoiled. Great camera light that throws sufficiently far and doesn't blind people like my old camera light. well worth the money. I'm very happy.

I was looking for a compact solution to satisfy location lighting needs. Most of the units are overkill for what I wanted. I ran across this LED panel and so far couldn't be more happy! It's light weight and portable, it comes as a full kit with batteries and case and it is well built. Some of the other amazing features are that the lights are stackable if you need a bigger stronger source and it comes with barn doors which can double as a diffusion sock holder. The unit is bi colored and fully dimmable. The only thing that I don't like is the mount on the bottom for the camera. I think that it's more of a preference thing, but otherwise I'm pleased

Sturdy construction - much better than my previous break-after-a-few-uses camera lights. Nice case, 2 batteries and metal barn doors. Not "pro" quality to take daily abuse and keep working but good enough for my casual use.
Tested exposure in dark room with this light 6 feet from a grey card. ISO 800, 1/60 sec at f/3.5 for 3200K, f/5 for 4400K (midpoint with both sets of LEDs on) and f/4 at 5600K. You can clip together several of these lights to provide more output.
