The Bosch DVR-650-16A050 Video Recorder 650 Series (16-channel, DVD-RW), with H.264 compression technology, helps in saving storage space as much as 30% compared to standard MPEG-4, and reduces the amount of bandwidth needed without compensating on image quality. Videos can be viewed or recorded in CIF/2CIF/4CIF/D1 resolutions. It can record up to 25 (PAL) / 30 (NTSC) images per second, per channel at CIF resolution, while recording at 2CIF and 4CIF resolution is also possible by reducing the recording image rate settings.

Two monitor outputs offer full-screen/quad/multi-screen/sequenced viewing, and can support VGA 16:9/16:10/4:3 aspect ratios. Control Center software assists in simplified management of remote recorders. Simultaneous live viewing, recording, playback, and remote streaming can be achieved with help of a built-in web viewer. RTSP (Real Time Streaming Protocol) enables live display support on mobile devices. Smart Search feature helps in search of motion within recorded images.

With the motion detection feature, the DVR-650-16A050 Video Recorder 650 Series detects the presence of relevant motion in the video, while video loss detection helps in detecting the loss of signal from the camera. RS-485 serial communications controls the Bosch and third-party PTZ (Pan/Tilt/Zoom) cameras. IntuiKey keyboard support is available including loop-through to other 600 Series recorders. Data can be locally archived via USB.
