The 6812.6 Underwater Housing for Nikon D600 DSLR Camera from Ikelite is a waterproof case enabling you to shoot beneath the water's surface with your Nikon D600 digital SLR camera. It has a depth rating of 200' (60 m).

The housing provides access to almost all camera functions via mechanical controls. The metering selector, diopter adjustment control and flash pop-up button are inaccessible. The camera's built-in flash is not usable. The case is constructed from durable polycarbonate, known for its corrosion-resistant properties, and is clear to enable you to monitor the O-ring seal. Housing buoyancy is neutral or slightly negative in freshwater.

The housing requires a lens port (sold separately). Ikelite offers both Standard and Modular ports, of the dome and flat variety, to accommodate a wide range of Nikon F bayonet mount prime and zoom lenses.

The housing is built with TTL circuitry. Although the camera's built-in flash can't fire inside the housing, you can still trigger an optional underwater strobe via direct connect flash. In fact, this method is more reliable and efficient than using the camera's built-in flash, since it extends battery life and eliminates lag between exposures.

The housing is equipped with a glass optical viewfinder, positioned just above the camera's LCD monitor. A tray with handles is included, and the rubber grips provide a comfortable, secure hold. Lens zoom clamps and sleeves are also supplied for optional zoom lenses.

Controls

Benefit from access to virtually all camera functions via mechanical controls. The metering selector, diopter adjustment control and flash pop-up button are inaccessible. Shutter, video recording start/stop, and a large zoom control knob can all be comfortably reached without taking your hands off the handles. The built-in flash is not usable inside the housing

Construction

Crafted from durable polycarbonate, a material known for being highly resistant to corrosion. The fact that it's clear means you can see the O-ring seals. Buoyancy is neutral or slightly negative in freshwater, depending upon choice of lens port

Interchangeable Lens Port System

A lens port is required but sold separately. Ports are easily removable and replaceable via a simple locking system

Strobe Use

The camera's built-in flash can't fire within the housing, but you can trigger an optional underwater strobe by direct connect flash. In fact, this method is more reliable and efficient than using the camera's built-in flash, since it extends battery life and eliminates lag between exposures. Ikelite's proprietary circuitry enables direct communication between the camera and current Ikelite DS Substrobes, for accurate through-the-lens (TTL) metering control. The housing features an electrical bulkhead. You have the ability to adjust exposure with a current DS Substrobe quickly through the back of the housing, via a large dial control. TTL mode provides four 1/3 f/stop increments over or under flash compensation to fine-tune exposure. As an alternative, you can fully control strobe output through the back of the housing through one of the 7 manual power settings provided in half-stop increments. TTL circuitry does not operate with non-Ikelite strobes, which will provide manual exposure only. The housing accepts Ikelite 4103.51 single or 4103.52 dual sync cord for attaching an Ikelite DS Substrobe. Other sync cords are also available for attaching compatible Nikonos, Sea & Sea or Inon strobes.

Other Lighting Options

Try the optional PRO-2800 LED video light, featuring a compact light head that produces 2800 lumens of brightness with a natural, daylight-balanced color temperature. The light has a 100° angle of coverage, especially useful when shooting with wide-angle lenses. A rechargeable battery pack attaches directly to the bottom of the SLR tray with a pair of screws. The PRO-2800 doubles as an effective focus light for macro photography. There are optional arm components available for mounting strobes, video lights and other accessories
