Nero's Recode 12 for Windows (Download) rips video files from discs and converts them to other formats for compatibility with different devices such as phones and tablets. It can rip from DVDs, Blu-ray discs, and CDs. It also converts video files already stored on your computer, and it can download videos from sites like YouTube and Facebook and convert them. Any audio incorporated in a video file gets included in a conversion. Many video formats, like MPEG-2, support audio within them.
Recode 12 can also rip just the audio from a disc or stored video file and convert it for use with various audio devices, like MP3 players. Some basic editing functions are moreover available for editing the audio files prior to finalizing them. You can, for example, trim an audio clip or merge parts of several audio clips. (Recode 12 supports ripping audio from DVDs and Blu-ray discs, but not from CDs. Nero programs like Nero BurningROM or Nero Express are available for ripping CDs.)
Recode 12 comes pre-configured with profiles for many popular devices, such as iPhones and Android phones. All the conversion settings a particular device requires are already set up in the associated profile, and all you have to do is just drag-and-drop a file directly into the profile, and Recode 12 will automatically begin converting. You can also manually select the exact settings you want from drop-down menus -- the exact format, bitrate, frame rate, aspect ratio, and other settings you want, and you can choose to save these settings in custom profiles.
Recode 12 can convert individual files or batches of files. It supports CUDA, AMD App, and Intel Quick Sync Video acceleration for 4x accelerated processing, especially useful for batch processing.
