Sony’s newly announced DSC-RX100 is a unique compact camera in design and performance. While it takes on the demeanor of a small, simple-to-use camera, it also provides a great deal of appeal for even the professional photographer.

Father’s Day is a holiday meant to honor paternal relationships and give thanks and attention to Dad. The idea of giving him a gift, especially one that will continue to serve its purpose well past Father’s Day, can be an invaluable gesture that will help to foster an expressive and communicative bond.

Still photography and weddings have coexisted and depended on one another for just about as long as photographs have been made. Over the course of the 180 or so years of photography, the technology has obviously evolved and has been adapted to record these special events.

Two new lenses from Sony have hit the market: The A-mount SAL18135 18-135mm and the E-mount SEL-18200LE 18-200mm zoom lenses, the former with a maximum aperture of f/3.5-5.6, the latter with a maximum of f/3.5-6.3.

The “universal remote” takes on an entirely new meaning as Wi-Fi-enabled touch screen devices proliferate. Thanks to all the free apps, we may no longer need to regularly use the dedicated remotes that came with our TV, Blu-ray player, receiver, home theater system, media player or DVR.

Fostered by sentiment and remembrance of one’s mother, Mother’s Day is the annual celebration of all things maternal. By showing your respect and admiration for your mother, you are not only continuing this closest of bonds but also strengthening the communication between yourself and your mum.

There are obvious reasons to choose a dedicated camcorder as a gift for Mother’s Day. For starters, it won’t ring in the middle of video recording. Next, the better camcorders contain an optical zoom lens that doesn’t degrade the picture resolution during close-ups.

If you think that all tablet computers are just flat, glass-plated rectangles, then you’ve never held the ergonomic Sony Tablet S. And if you think that Ice Cream Sandwich is just a cool and creamy snack, then you’re not familiar with the latest version of Google’s Android operating system.

With Mother's Day looming just before us, now might be a great time to open your mom's mind to the usefulness and convenience of tablet computing. The iPad is tremendously popular, and an awesome piece of technical goodness to boot. But there are many other tablets to choose from.
