Canon Rebel DSLRs have always been impressively smaller than the competition, going back to their original film models. Canon’s EOS Rebel SL1 doesn’t disappoint in the size department, either. If anything, the EOS SL1 elicited variations of “Whoa,” “Wow,” “Jeeeeez,” and “Is that really a DSLR?”

The JVC GC-PX100 enters the camcorder market at a unique position: It's capable of shooting high frame rates that are unavailable at any level except the highest end (i.e: Phantom models). Now, once you go past 60 fps, you're no longer able to shoot at 1920 x 1080, but even at reduced resolutions, you can't beat 600 frames per second.

Ricoh has announced the release of their high-performance GR Digital Camera. Improving on the successes of their GR DIGITAL (I-IV) series, but eliminating the numbered nomenclature, the simply named GR is a formidable point-and-shoot, conceived and designed to compete with the Nikon COOLPIX A, Canon PowerShot G1X and Fujifilm X100s, for example.

Canon has recently announced three new camcorders. The Canon XA25 and XA20 are ultra-compact, professional camcorders designed for run-and-gun videography and ENG. They feature a 20x zoom lens, built-in Wi-Fi, wireless FTP transfer and dual SD card slots to support a variety of recording modes.

Canon has just announced two new Rebel DSLRs, the EOS Rebel T5i and the EOS Rebel SL1, both of which are poised to be compact DSLRs that will deliver impressive imaging performance. Additionally, a new EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens has been announced.

Samsung has announced a new mirrorless digital camera for their NX mount and has bundled it with a versatile zoom lens, an external flash unit and Adobe software. The Samsung NX1100 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 20-50mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens is a compact mirrorless camera that features a 20.3MP APS-C-sized CMOS sensor for high-resolution, detailed imagery with notable low-light sensitivity to ISO 12800.

Nikon has just announced its newest flagship DX-format DSLR: the D7100. This professional-grade camera with APS-C-sized sensor is the successor to the deservedly popular D7000, and improves upon it by way of increased speed, imaging performance and connectivity options.

Sony has just released several updates and new models in their lines of photographic equipment. Two interchangeable-lens cameras, new lenses and Cyber-shot point-and-shoots are available. These cameras build upon Sony’s extensive history of making cameras with high imaging performance that are enjoyable to use regularly.

Fujifilm has recently introduced several new point-and-shoot cameras that possess a broad array of features and serve to improve upon their existing line of non-interchangeable lens X series and FinePix digital cameras. At the forefront of this announcement are the highly anticipated X100S and X20 cameras, which feature retro styling combined with high imaging performance.

The NEX-VG30 is Sony's latest iteration in a very popular series of large-sensor Handycams that feature interchangeable E-mount lenses. The main innovation of the VG30 is the zoom rocker, which executes the wide-to-telephoto action of the new 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 Power Zoom lens that's available as part of a kit with this camcorder.

Canon has announced three new point-and-shoot cameras to further extend the range of options within their popular PowerShot line of digital cameras. Each of the cameras provides compact design with a high-resolution (12- or 16MP) sensor, wide-angle to telephoto zoom lens and HD video capture.

JVC has developed two new professional camcorders, branded as “Mobile News Cameras.” The GY-HM600 and the GY-HM650 are nearly identical handheld camcorders, designed for traditional HDTV broadcast productions as well as Internet distribution.

Canon has just introduced four new additions to their expansive line of PowerShot point-and-shoot cameras, including a newly, uniquely designed model, the PowerShot N. These cameras build on Canon’s successes of providing high image quality, simple functionality and compact form factors into their PowerShot lineup.
