Canon Rebel DSLRs have always been impressively smaller than the competition, going back to their original film models. Canon’s EOS Rebel SL1 doesn’t disappoint in the size department, either. If anything, the EOS SL1 elicited variations of “Whoa,” “Wow,” “Jeeeeez,” and “Is that really a DSLR?”

Canon has just announced two new Rebel DSLRs, the EOS Rebel T5i and the EOS Rebel SL1, both of which are poised to be compact DSLRs that will deliver impressive imaging performance. Additionally, a new EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens has been announced.

Sony has just released several updates and new models in their lines of photographic equipment. Two interchangeable-lens cameras, new lenses and Cyber-shot point-and-shoots are available. These cameras build upon Sony’s extensive history of making cameras with high imaging performance that are enjoyable to use regularly.

The D4 is Nikon's top-of-the-line professional DSLR. With a 16.1 MP sensor, this full-frame-equipped camera has large photosites that enable great low-light performance. In addition, the camera's native ISO range goes from 100 to 12800.

Admittedly, it seems that this year’s CES breakout products were more about big tablets, smart TVs and gaming, but a few standout cameras and camcorders were introduced last week that will most likely be hot items in the year to come and, for camcorders, might even signal a path for a new marketing niche.

Sigma has announced two new zoom lenses and a USB dock for updating the lens firmware and adjusting parameters via new software. The 17-70mm f/2.8-4.0 DC MACRO HSM / OS HSM is a standard DSLR zoom from Sigma’s Contemporary line.
