It’s holiday time - don’t let the stress of the road and the madness at the airport get the best of you. Don’t let familial obligations prevent you from getting work done. Don’t return home without all your memories captured and adventures documented.

Sigma has announced a new 35mm f/1.4 prime lens for DSLR cameras. A wide-angle lens with a fast maximum aperture, it’s available for Nikon, Canon, Pentax, Sony and Sigma Autofocus mounts. With this lens, Sigma is inaugurating a new line of interchangeable lenses: the Art line.

The recently released Nikon D600 is a full-frame DSLR featuring a 24.3-megapixel CMOS sensor, compact form factor, expandable sensitivity from ISO 50 to 25600, continuous shooting rate of up to 5.5 fps, and a large 3.2” 921k-dot LCD monitor. Full HD 1080p video recording is available and supports multiple frame rates, manual exposure control, and continuous autofocusing.

Way back—five years ago—if you shot video, you used a video camera, and if you shot photographs, you used a still camera. Today, that distinction is all but meaningless. Almost every video camera today captures stills, and virtually every still camera now shoots video.

Canon has just announced two additions to their expansive EF lens lineup: the EF 24-70mm f/4L IS and the EF 35mm f/2 IS. These lenses fit into the lineup where previous lenses exist, but improve upon these lenses with the addition of image stabilization and more refined optical technology.

Photography and technology have walked hand-in-hand through many photo shoots. Advancements in digital technology have been an asset to photographers in recent years, and will continue to be so for many more. But one of the most rapid developments has been in Wi-Fi technology.

Professional-grade DSLRs are the most technologically advanced cameras in production and provide the highest-quality imagery possible, while realizing the tools necessary for photographers to gain complete control over their imagery.

An intermediate DSLR is what its name implies, a camera that falls between entry-level and professional-level DSLRs. While this is generally true, it should not necessarily imply that an intermediate camera is unable to produce images similar in quality to professional cameras, or that it cannot be used to its maximum potential by a novice photographer.

A DSLR is a step up for photographers looking to gain more control over the way they create images, as well as providing greater versatility and expansion for their future photographic endeavors. Serving as the contemporary progression from traditional film-based SLR cameras, a DSLR is a digital single lens reflex camera.

Photographing lightning strikes and other ultra-high-speed events is next to impossible without the aid of some kind of triggering system, due to the rate at which these anomalies occur. Ubertronix Strike Finder triggers are an intelligent solution.

The Sony Alpha SLT-A37 digital camera with 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 lens is an entry-level DSLR-style camera based around Sony’s Translucent Mirror Technology.  It features a 16.1-megapixel APS-C-sized sensor and BIONZ image processor for producing high quality images and HD video with an expanded ISO sensitivity up to 16000.

Canon has just announced their newest full-frame DSLR, the EOS 6D. This camera is a step closer to bridging the gap between cropped sensors and professional full-frame bodies, without alienating the compact form that is desirable from a camera with a smaller sensor.

Nikon has just announced the D600, their most compact full-frame DSLR, featuring a 24.3 megapixel CMOS sensor, EXPEED 3 image processing system, low-light sensitivity to ISO 25600 and a continuous shooting rate up to 5.5 full-resolution frames per second. In addition to image quality, the D600 also features the ability to share your imagery wirelessly.

In this Event Space presentation, underwater photographer Larry Cohen talks about the use of cameras when used underwater. He reviews simple Point and Shoot systems as well as very sophisticated systems for DSLR cameras. Larry even touches upon shooting video underwater.

The new Sony Alpha SLT-A99 digital camera features a 24.7MP Full Frame, 35mm-sized Exmor CMOS sensor. The BIONZ image processor gives the A99 ample speed for large file sizes and offers support for quick focusing, low-light sensitivity and noise reduction.
