The Canon EOS 7D offers a complete set of photo and video imaging tools for creating rich, digital content. Similar in form to the popular 10D-50D bodies, the 7D adopts numerous 1D-series attributes in addition to a host of ambitious new features for professional and advanced photo and video shooters.

A few years back, Nikon introduced the D40—its first compact DSLR. And it was received with critical acclaim as an excellent entry-level camera for consumers seeking a trauma-free transition from the limitations of point-and-shoot digital cameras. Over time, the D40 was supplanted by the D40x, which was followed by the D60.

Road-testing a new DSLR is always a blast, especially when the improvements go beyond a new paint job and racing stripes. Canon's new EOS 5D Mark II, a 2nd generation 5D-series digital camera, delivers a host of improvements along with the ability to shoot Hi-Def video with sound, which made the road-test experience a total blast-and-a-half.

It's truly a beautiful thing when all the hype and hoopla pumped out by camera manufacturers actually proves true when you finally get your hands on the camera being hyped and hoopla-ed. In the case of Nikon's FX-format D700, all the hype and hoopla have proved to be true.

Photographing buildings or interiors in tight quarters can be unnerving, as any architectural photographer can tell you. In urban surroundings, there's usually a limit to how far you can back up before you bump into a wall or step dangerously into oncoming traffic.
