The JVC GY-HM650 is an intriguing camcorder for news producers for one very good reason: it integrates FTP and Wi-Fi connectivity, which means that by using a wireless mobile hotspot, you can send raw video back to the station immediately after you shoot it. Sony has announced the NEX-VG30 interchangeable lens camcorder. With E-Mount lenses and a 16.1MP Exmor APS-C sized CMOS sensor, the NEX-VG30 will yield a beautiful, cinematic image with shallow depth of field and low noise characteristics. This newest iteration of the VG series will also offer videographers some welcome upgrades over NEX-VG20.

Within the last couple years, top camera manufacturers like Sony, JVC and Panasonic have introduced consumer-friendly 3D camcorders that built on the advances already achieved in consumer-based compact HD camcorders. 

A pair of updates to existing camcorders put Panasonic’s AG-AC130A and AG-AC160A on a slightly higher plane than their predecessors. This month Panasonic is expected to make available these two improved models.

At the NAB 2012 show, Panasonic announced the AG-HPX255, an update to its popular AG-HPX250 handheld camcorder. The AG-HPX255 carries over all the existing advanced features of its predecessor and adds a big one: Compatibility with the Panasonic AG-EC4G extension control unit.
