GoPro has just announced their new HERO3 action cameras, as well as several accessories including the LCD Touch BacPac, second-generation Battery BacPac, the HERO3 Frame Mount and a Wi-Fi Remote with an optional Attachment Keys + Rings set for connecting the Wi-Fi Remote to your car keys or zipper. Also announced is a 3.5mm mic adapter.

Rugged compact cameras are built tough to withstand accidental drops, submersion and exposure to extreme temperatures. With these durable imaging devices, you’ll have less to worry about than you would with a standard point-and-shoot camera—because these cameras can take their fair share of abuse and keep on clicking.

Sony has finally announced a pair of compact, rugged Full HD camcorders for point-of-view (POV) action sports videography. As this corner of the camcorder market continues to grow, we knew it would only be a matter of time until Sony offered a viable contender.

JVC has recently announced a new action camera, the GC-XA1 ADIXXION, which is designed specifically to go wherever you want to go while you do whatever you want to do. This small camcorder is ruggedly designed.

The K-30 is Pentax’s newest endeavor in the DSLR market and features a familiar set of specifications, while improving upon functionality and overall efficiency. Pentax has also announced a new medium-telephoto-length 50mm f/1.8 prime lens.

Olympus sent its Tough camera to finishing school, and the result is a camera as rugged as ever, but with some very smooth new moves. Like its predecessors, the new TG-1 iHS camera will stand up to pretty much any physical challenge.

With their distinctive bowtie-like body styling, the newly-announced Pentax Optio WG-2 and WG-2 GPS bear an uncanny resemblance to their rugged Optio ancestors. Although the new cameras—13th-generation models according to the Pentax press release—strongly resemble their forebears, they contain enough internal and external improvements to warrant the title "new."

Olympus has introduced a pair of point-and-shoot cameras that can allegorically be compared to peas of differing pods. The Olympus SZ-31MR iHS, which sports a 24x 25 to 600mm equivalent zoom lens, is the extreme zoom of the duo.

Sony has announced three new additions to its popular Cyber-shot pocket camera lineup that include a pair of sleek, very able point and shoots and an even sleeker shockproof, dustproof and waterproof pocket camera.  

Announcing an abundance of FinePix cameras for 2012, Fujifilm is offering a point-and-shoot model for every need and budget. Cameras’ resolutions range from 12 to 16 Megapixels and optical zooms from 5x to 20x.The cameras integrate color LCDs ranging in size from 2.7 to 3 inches. A few have electronic viewfinders.

Olympus has introduced a quintet of new point-and-shoot digital cameras, at CES 2012, that include simple snappy-shoots, a new Tough series camera and a couple of pocket-sized super zooms.

Even though the leaves are down and your frost-laden lawn makes crunchy sounds when you cross it in the morning, that doesn’t mean it’s time to pack your cameras away until March or April; if you do, you’re going to miss some fine picture-taking opportunities.
