Samsung announced on April 25 that all previous Samsung Windows PC products will now be unified under the ATIV brand. ATIV was originally used by Samsung for their convertible PC devices, but the convergence of technologies is now unified under the ATIV brand.

In the past, consumers shopping for a portable computing solution were forced to choose between either a tablet with a touchscreen interface and a virtual keyboard or a more traditional clamshell notebook computer with a tactile keyboard. Recently however, Intel® has asked the question, why should the consumer have to choose?

I recently tested two new Acer Aspire Timeline Ultra M5 notebook computers: the 14” M5-481T-6670 and the 15.6” M5-581T-6490. These laptops are officially classified as Ultrabooks—a new category of powerful computers that strive to be as thin and lightweight as possible—but just think of the M5 as an ultra-portable workhorse.

When someone says that they’re going to buy an ultra-slim, ultraportable notebook computer with a Thunderbolt port, people might automatically think of a notebook computer made by a company with a different name. Well, that notion is no longer valid.
