Three Network Education Series Projectors from Hitachi America have been introduced that will have particular appeal for educational institutions. All the models can be networked via built-in LAN ports and come with Hitachi’s PJMan projector-management software that enables users to operate and monitor the projectors from a remote location and receive diagnostics like estimated lamp life left. Wireless network connectivity is optional via a USB Wi-Fi adapter.
The projectors are a good fit for a campus environment where projectors are used in multiple classrooms. A Multi Projector function enables you to project the same image on 12 screens at the same time. Additionally, Hitachi’s Moderator Control Mode lets an instructor network the computers of 50 students to the projector, then select and project images from individual ones. Finally, Hitachi’s Campus Notification System and Network Messenger capability lets an administrator display announcements across all screens.
Each 3LCD projector uses three transmissive LCD panels to compose the image illuminated by a 6000-hour lamp (in Eco Mode) or 3,000 hours in standard mode. Each model in the series weighs 7.9 pounds and includes two 8W speakers, eliminating the necessity of connecting an external sound system. The projectors include HDMI, component video, composite video, S-Video and VGA inputs. There’s also a VGA output and an RS-232C control port. In addition, there are two USB ports (Type A and B) and three audio inputs, a microphone input and an audio output. Each has a contrast ratio of 3000:1. For security, there’s a Kensington Lock slot and a security sensor that recognizes when the projector has been moved. Without reentering the proper pass code, the projector won’t work.

Each of the models contains AMX Device Discovery, a technology integrated into the devices of some 80 manufacturers, which makes operation with an AMX control system easy. They also contain Crestron RoomView, firmware that enables projector control over a custom A/V network.
