If you are looking for only background music than this may be a viable option.... The music doesn't matter you, therefore you can justify skipping hiring the DJ.

But the article suggests that this will take the place of a DJ. It is extremely substandard than what you will get when you hire a professional DJ.

There is nothing overpriced about what a true professional DJ provides... Simply stated, if the music, and the flow of the wedding is important to you, nothing will take the place of the DJ.

Weddings are expensive... I get it. The DJ is a target because people do not completely understand how much work goes in to creating a successful wedding. The DJ is a target because people do not completely understand how expensive REAL professional equipment costs.

You're only going to have one wedding (hopefully)... and you are splurging on a bunch of things to make this the best wedding ever. Why take a risk?

If you want to cut corners, consider this:
1. The flowers you have purchased are already dead, and will be wilted within a few days...
2. The day after the wedding said no one ever, "man, those crudites were the best ever"...
3. No one cares whether you arrive in a limo or your own car... they are more likely to care whether or not the open bar has top shelf.
4. A chair without a white cover can still be sat upon.
5. Most people don't drink the champagne. Cheap white wine does the same trick.
6. A great DJ or lighting company can transform the cheapest venue into something spectacular... If you are broke, skip the fancy Country Club.
7. 6 out of 10 wedding guests don't eat the cake. They'd rather dance through dessert time.
8. If you cut out the DJ, you're going to have to do a lot of work coordinating the flow of events, downloading hundreds of songs, and moving and setting up equipment. And your guests are more likely to leave early.
