Scottish-born photojournalist Harry Benson has had a 60-year career photographing many of the icons of American politics and life. His fifty-minute presentation is, in many ways, too short to fully grasp his reach into the American soul, but in sharing his images he gives us an intimate glimpse into the joys and tragedies of the second half of the Twentieth Century.
Beginning in his native Scotland, and then on to England to make portraits of Queen Elizabeth, we are also treated to memories of every US President from Eisenhower to Obama as Benson tracks through his years under contract for LIFE magazine. But it isn’t all America. He was at the Berlin Wall when it went up and came down, and his celebrity portfolio includes images of Greta Garbo, Elizabeth Taylor, Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, The Who, The Rolling Stones, Muhammad Ali and more.
