Samsung has announced the release of its Galaxy NX Mirrorless Camera, an interchangeable-lens camera with 3G/4G LTE technology. A mirrorless compact system camera (CSC) with a bridge camera design, it runs on the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system and provides Samsung’s impressive connectivity capabilities and the full array of Android system apps. The idea is to have the capability to take professional-quality images and the Bluetooth 4.0 (LE) and Wi-Fi connectivity to share them directly from anywhere.
The Galaxy NX houses a 20.3MP APS-C CMOS sensor and the DRIMe IV Image Signal Processor to create sharp, bright, high-resolution images with effective low-light capability, including an ISO sensitivity range up to 25600. With a maximum shutter speed of 1/6000 of a second, a continuous shooting rate of 8.6 fps and its Advanced Hybrid Autofocus System, you’re able to keep up with fast action and stop it when the moment hits. The hybrid AF system combines phase detection AF and contrast AF for fast and accurate autofocus. Compatibility with the full spectrum of NX-mount lenses provides the potential to shoot in any situation or condition and with optional adapters, a panoply of lenses is available to use with this camera. The calling cards of the Galaxy NX are easy sharing and easy operation.
An impressively large 4.8” HD TFT LCD monitor provides bright image composition and playback as well as touch-control menu navigation. An SVGA electronic viewfinder is also available for stable eye-level composition. Full HD 1080 video capture is supported, and images are stored on 16GB of internal memory as well as on an optional microSD card, up to 64GB in capacity. Both a built-in pop-up flash and a hot-shoe mount are provided.
Smart Mode, available with a simple tap, provides you with a range of assistive modes to make it easy to take tricky shots. Additionally, modes like Multi Exposure, which merges two different shots together to produce one distinctive image, and Animated Photo, which connects continuous shots of up to five seconds to create a moving GIF file, unlock your creativity. For added realism, Sound & Shot mode stores sound as the picture is taken for a complete document of the moment.
With 2GB of RAM and the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system, you are provided with sharing capability and a wealth of apps from the Android system. Easy uploading, sharing, and posting to social media sites are a tap away and Internet browsing is always available. The Camera Studio widget lets you customize your Galaxy NX to better create, edit, and present your handiwork. You can save your favorite photo-related apps, use Story Album to show off your work, edit your videos with Video Maker and even have direct access to Dropbox for sharing large files. Photo Suggest offers photo-op suggestions based on your current location. The Galaxy NX is bundled with Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4.1 software for photo management and editing and a free upgrade to Lightroom 4.4 is then made available for working with Samsung RAW files. Also included is Samsung Kies software for Mac and Windows, which assists in transferring contacts and images, as well as updating software and syncing data wirelessly.
