Korg’s recently announced TM-50 Combo Tuner Metronome offers both pitch identification and rhythm training in one compact unit. The tuner supports a detection range from C1 to C8 with 12-note equal temperament tuning. It features an ultra-responsive LCD needle type meter display and is equipped with a built-in speaker as well. The speaker facilitates audible reference tones in a three-octave range. If you’re trying to improve your ear, the Sound Back function also affords a fun training tool. It works by outputting a reference tone from the speaker. The tone produced will be the closest tone to the input sound, and the LCD meter indicates any discrepancy between the two pitches.
The TM-50’s tuner also supports a range of concert pitches, which come in handy if you require a pitch reference for tuning a group of musical instruments for a performance. The TM-50 even features hash marks that indicate intervals between three and four semitones for distinguishing both pure major and minor third intervals. Plus, if you’re looking to practice both pitch and tempo simultaneously, the TM-50 is equipped also with a metronome.
The TM-50’s metronome supports a tempo range from 30 to 252 beats per minute. And with 15 different rhythm variations, you’ll be able to practice a wide variety of musical styles. There’s also an easy tempo setting that features two types of tempo step patterns and also a tap tempo function for tapping your desired tempo by foot or hand. The TM-50’s LCD interface, moreover, offers two levels of brightness for visibility in dark rooms or venues. Korg offers the TM-50 in either black or white. It weighs only 3.74 ounces and runs on two AAA batteries, which support up to 70 hours of operation.
