The Teradek VidiU is a camera-top device that enables you to stream HD video live—without the use of a computer. The device connects to your DLSR camera or camcorder's HDMI port and converts video so that it can be streamed via your favorite streaming platform, whether it's USTREAM, LiveStream, Justin.TV, or many others. In this video, Kelby Media's Mia McCormick finds the streaming quality to be very good.
The VidiU streams over dual-band MIMO Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or a single 3G/4G USB modem. There's an iOS app for controlling over your iPhone or iPad, or you can use the built-in joystick. The Teradek device can support up to 1080p resolution but, as of right now, platforms like UStream and LiveStream only support 720p. So the VidiU is ready for a 1080p-streaming future when it comes.
