Steve Huff on Small Cameras and Running a Community

Steve Huff needs no introduction: As a veteran blogger with a large fanbase, he is also known across the internet as a rangefinder and small-camera aficionado. We recently got to chat with him about the different cameras he's used over the years, about running his site, and about his photographic adventures with famed musician Seal.

 

 

 

The Human Element: The Peter Souza Exhibit at the Leica Gallery

Peter Souza is the White House Press Photographer. But he doesn't only capture the major public moments in the life of the President, he also captures the more human and tender times. Many of his photos are on display in an exhibit at The Leica Gallery in NYC entitled, "The Obama Presidency: A Look Behind the Scenes." Though his photos are already showcased on the White House Flickr Account, Peter's work is something that needs to be seen in person to truly be experienced.

 

 

 

Worth Its Weight in Gold: The Leica Noctilux-M 50mm f/0.95

My first encounter with the legendary Leica Noctilux was about ten years ago, when one of my good friends returned from a holiday in Switzerland with his new Leica M6 and an assortment of Leica lenses—all given to him by his grandfather! Yes, GIVEN! And among those lenses was the Leitz Noctilux f1. I remember seeing those first images Michael shot on his new M6, wide open, with the Noctilux, and I remember thinking, "My goodness, I couldn't care less if there's no actual point of focus in the image!" The way that Noctilux rendered was just breathtaking.

Today, we are proud to announce the winner of the B&H Photo Flickr Street Photography contest sponsored by Leica. Throughout a very long judging process, the social media team here at B&H viewed lots of great submissions. In the end, Flickr user Louster will be receiving the Leica D-LUX 5 for his photo Centennial Olympic Park. Congratulations to Louster, and kudos to all of you for giving us one of the longest and toughest decisions to make.
