I found this blog post cogent. You make many valid points. However, I disagree with some of your assessments of your own images. In particular, I think the first image of the farm machine, the one you reject, is actually this most interesting. It may lack a little in color contrast, but it more than makes up for that in the variety of forms is shows and way your composition establishes a harmonious relationship among all the disparate forms.
