The Sony AX-2000 is a great video camera, but it's a very watered down version of the Sony NX5U. With no 720p, no linear uncompressed audio, no viewfinder markers and safety zones, no numerical zoom display and focus distance display in feet (the list goes on and on) I don't know who would buy an AX-2000 when for $500 bucks more you get all these features plus tons more including HD/SDI BNC connectors and GPS!
You can't record SD with MPEG-2 simultaneously on the AX-2000, like you can with the NX5U, which is a huge convenience for creating instant DVDs for people. For $500 bucks more the NX5U is a far, far more capable camera. If you're dropping $3k+ already, for just about 15% more $, you get 100% more camera.
Also Sony is giving away its 128GB Flash recorder drive, which lists for $749 for only $249 with an amazing $500 rebate that lasts until the end of March! And no, it doesn't work with the AX-2000. It records 11 hours of video! That pays for your upgrade to the NX5U right there.
Get the NX5U... the AX-2000 is the 4GB iPhone that no one wanted.
