This is somewhat of an apples to oranges comparison, as Steve points out in the article: With the Leica you get a two year warrantee vs. one year for the Panasonic. You also get different firmware, which you no doubt could reset the Panasonic to. You also get Elements 8 with the Leica. In short, if you value those things, the price difference makes at least some sense.
This is not the only time that somebody commenting on this piece has not read the piece well.
