Creators of digital media, both professional and amateur, have voracious storage requirements. They require high-performance storage for photo and video editing with programs like Aperture, iPhoto, Photoshop and Lightroom, Final Cut Pro and iMovie. Additionally, creators need secure storage to back up and protect their work. Digital-media creators are not Information Technology (IT) experts, and selecting storage systems is not their primary focus.
Furthermore, constant technology changes add more layers of confusion around an important tool. There are many vendors offering RAID storage solutions, yet selecting RAID levels is daunting: level 0, 1, 5, 6,1+0, 5+0, 10, or 60... Isn’t there a better way?
This presentation will demystify the technological confusion and clarify the jargon of storage systems by presenting the Drobo family of products, which provide a range of storage solutions, from backup to high-performance editing systems for video creators. These systems are simple to use and they satisfy basic expectations such as acquiring greater capacity, adding more drives or replacing a small drive with a larger one.
The presentation will focus on the following topics:
- Introduction to Drobo and BeyondRAID technology.
- Which Drobo model to use for editing
- Which Drobo model to use for backup
- Tools to automatically back up your data
- How to back up a Drobo
- Solutions for off-site backup
