About me

Alan Winslow is a photographer, artist, and educator. He holds a BA from New York State University at Buffalo where he studied Environmental Studies and Photography. In 2008 he and fellow photographer Morrigan McCarthy embarked on Project Tandem and rode bicycles 11,000 miles around the United States to photograph and interview Americans about their environmental opinions. That work has since been turned into a touring gallery show and lecture series. He is an instructor at the Maine Media Workshops and his work has been displayed in galleries throughout the United States. In 2011 he will begin his next project, The Geography of Youth, a world circumnavigation by bicycle to document the lives of twenty-somethings all over the planet.

A photographer by trade, Winslow is interested in the overlap of medias including painting, sound, and video. Much of his personal work revolves around the study and exploration of rural living. Specifically, how people are connected and committed to the land.
