The black GZ-HM65 Camcorder from JVC is a solid-state home movie camera that can record full HD (1920 x 1080) video as well as take 2.3 MP still photos. The camcorder records video and photos on SD, SDHC, or SDXC memory cards. It requires Class 4 cards or faster, and will accept capacities up to 128GB. A flip-out 3" LCD screen allows you to preview your shots, and provides a touchscreen interface so you can access the menu as well as shooting and playback modes.
Allowing you to enjoy your movie on the big screen, the camcorder features an AV output for standard definition video and stereo audio. In addition, there is an HDMI mini (type C) output so that you can connect the camera to and HDTV and playback video at its native, Full HD resolution. Audio recording is facilitated by a built-in stereo microphone, and there is a speaker for on-board audio output.
3" LCD Screen with Touchscreen
Additional functions, including advanced menu settings, beyond the dedicated buttons can be accesses via the touchscreen function of the flip-out LCD screen. The touchscreen also allows you to toggle between record, video, photo, and playback modes
Date and Time Stamp
Allows you to burn the date and time permanently into the video image; this is useful for legal depositions, which typically require time and date stamp
Shoots one frame per user-defined interval to create time-lapse effects. Interval settings are: OFF, 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 40, and 80 seconds. At 20 seconds or higher the camcorder automatically switches to power-saving mode until it is about to take the next frame
Capture Photos During Video Recording
You don't have to stop recording to take a photo. By pressing the Photo button while the camera is rolling you can save a snapshot to the memory card. In this mode, still will be saved at 1920 x 1080 Full HD resolution
The camcorder can record up to 300 fps at 720 x 480 (SD) resolution. It will record at this speed for up to 144 minutes and the resulting scene can be expanded up to 12 hours
Create stop-motion video by recording two frames at a time. In this mode, every time you press the Record button two frames are recorded
Auto Start Motion Detection
When enabled, automatically starts recording when motion is detected in the scene. This works by sensing changes in brightness within a specified frame, designated by a red outline, that is positioned within the image
Delay the photo shutter release or video recording starting by putting the camera on a self-timer that lasts from two to ten seconds. Alternatively, Face Detection can be used as another way to automatically trigger the camera
By enabling the Tele Macro Mode you can take close up, macro shots to get more detail from small objects by zooming in
Optional Setting and Scene Modes
i.A. Intelligent Auto and Manual Recording Modes
In Intelligent Auto (i.A.), the camcorder does all of the work for you, setting focus, exposure, white balance and other parameters to what it deems best. For users looking for more control, there is also a manual (M) mode that allows you to set many of these parameters yourself
While in Manual Mode you can select from a collection of preset scene modes. Scene modes are semi-automatic settings that are optimized for different types of commonly-encountered shooting conditions. They include: back-light compensation, custom white balance, macro, landscape with a foregroud subject, Night Alive, and Spotlight
Darkens the LCD screen and mutes any audio output from the speakers for disruption free operation during a performance, service, or other similar situation
Save a specific individual's face before filming so that brightness and focus can be adjusted automatically using the face tracking function. Up to six faces can be saved, and these can be ranked using priority levels
Playlists and Trimming
Normally the camcorder plays clips in the order they were shot, starting with the oldest. However, you can also create custom playlists to create a simple in-camera edit that plays clips in the order you choose. For further refinements, you can trim clips by highlighting only the portion you actually want
Index markers can be inserted during recording or playback. This allows you to quickly find the same point in the video again later on. Even if scenes aren't indexed, it is still possible to locate what you are looking for based on the date it was recorded on
Animations and motion graphics stored in the camcorder can be composited into your scene, and will be recorded along with the video. Animations include: hearts, particle effects, comets, musical notes, flowers, stars, and more
Decorate Face Effect
Uses face detection to automatically align animation features such as sunglasses or crowns over a subject's face
Allows you to draw freely over the image in different colors and record the effect as an permanent overlay that is burned into your movie
