LG D820-32GB-WHT overview

  • 1Description

The unlocked, white Google Nexus 5 D820 32GB Smartphone from LG improves on its predecessor, the Nexus 4, with a bigger 4.95" in-plane switching (IPS) display and a larger Full HD 1920 x 1080 native resolution. The IPS panel allows for wider viewing angles while the native resolution allows the Nexus 5 to play back 1080p Full HD content without upscaling or letterboxing. The display is also a capacitive touchscreen with full support for the multi-touch gestures incorporated into the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system. The screen is also made with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for high scratch resistance and screen durability.

The Nexus 5 is powered by a quad-core 2.26 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and 2GB of RAM. The micro-USB port allows you to charge as well as transfer data quickly from your computer to the Nexus 5 and vice versa. The micro-USB port also supports SlimPort. SlimPort uses a single cable to deliver high-definition video and audio from your Nexus 5 to a wide range of external displays, including projectors, PC monitors, and HDTVs. In order to take advantage of SlimPort, you'll have to purchase a SlimPort adapter (sold separately).

Bluetooth 4.0 is onboard for pairing with other Bluetooth-enabled devices. 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi is also integrated for high-speed Internet connectivity. Built-in NFC allows you to instantly connect to other NFC-enabled devices for content sharing, simply by tapping the two devices together. GPS with GLONASS is also on-board for using Google Location and Maps services. Additionally, the Nexus 5 has an integrated 2300mAh battery that can deliver up to 17 hours of talk time and 7 hours of Internet browsing on a cellular network. The battery can also be charged wirelessly as well.

The Nexus 5 comes with the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system. KitKat provides improved features to Android. Google Now is integrated deeper into Android. In fact, you can start using Google Now without even having to touch the screen. Instead, you can simply say "OK Google" to your smartphone and you'll be able to do voice search, send a text message, get directions, or even start playing music. Speaking of voices, the phone app has gotten a revamped look. Instead of the tired alphabetical sorting, KitKat will evaluate which contacts you speak with most often and automatically prioritize your contacts list accordingly. Also, the phone app is integrated with Google Maps so you'll be able to look up nearby restaurants and hotels directly from the app. On a related note, Caller ID also gets some Google Maps integration as well. If you receive a call from a phone number that is not in your contacts, Google Maps will search and display any matches from local businesses. It's clear that Google's goal with Android 4.4 KitKat is reduced Android fragmentation and a personal, customized experience.

However, the Nexus 5 may not work on certain CDMA carriers, such as Verizon, even if they support the same frequencies.
