    Impact LS-6B Reviews

Light Stand, Black (6') is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 456.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Easily destroyed I considered these a nice budget option (I could get three of them for the cost of a Manfrotto 367B, which was my old go to) ... until I used it.   In the first shoot with it, it worked great until I moved it by grabbing the top segment and the whole central pole came out.  While I can easily reinstall the pole, I cant get that pole to locked back in now.   Effectively, the light stand is destroyed.  I always move extended light stands around so if the lock cant hold the weight of the stand part of the tripod, its useless to me.   Since some people love these, I suspect its a consistency of manufacture issue.   Some of these are a great deal, and some of these are garbage.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from for use indoors only these stands are my only complaint from this impact lighting kit i purchased. i'm used to air-cushioned heavy duty PBL light stands, and these are just very flimsy. don't get me wrong, they work, and for indoor projects they will do fine, but i wouldn't take them outside and expect them to survive a day of shooting. I feel like I could snap these in half with just my bare hands. with proper care, they will last me. just need to be very careful with them. they are very lightweight. even with 20lb sandbags on them, it was swaying in the wind and it looked as if it would snap. scary!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Smaller Than Specs Listed The two I received were smaller than the specs listed above. They're 26.5 folded, and have a minimum standing height of 27 (not 34 and 32 as stated). And the footprint diameter is 36 (not 30 as stated). I was actually happy about this; they're easier to store/transport than I would have thought. Otherwise, the stands are fine. They hold speedlights, which is all I wanted them for. They do feel a bit flimsy, even compared to previous Impact products I've purchased, but I don't plan to put heavy studio lights on them or put them out in the wind. When fully extended to 6', the shafts aren't entirely straight; I have to shorten them to 5'5 or so to get a straight vertical line.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from does the job I use this product with my canon 430EX speedlite flash. It is easy to set up and lightweight but sturdy enough to place near people dancing around on a dance floor. In order to attach your flash you will also need this:Interfit STR117 Umbrella Bracket with Hot Shoe Adapter@

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Sturdy and easy to adjust I used these stands to hold PAR 38 cans with low watt bulbs and retro-fitted barn doors in a retail store to create a specific look. I like the solidity of the stands, and the ease with which they can be extended. I didn't like how short the threaded portion was. I had to buy wing nuts to install the cans, and felt there wasn't enough room for tightening. I would have preferred to use a couple of washers to help support the cans, but that was out of the question. As it is, I feel these wing nuts will need tightening every few days to make sure the lights are secure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You get MORE than what you pay for! I bought two of these stands to hold speedlights that will be used to light backdrops. It comes with the 1/4 threaded stud to which you can attach an optical slave, or use the collar to attach an umbrella/softbox bracket. All clamps are metal screws threading into metal receivers, so you're NOT going to strip out plastic threads. It's a nice sized base as well, covering up to almost 3 feet. Great product for your money!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Customer Service I posted a negative comment earlier about my stand coming apart.  It didnt take long for the manufacturer to contact me by phone and listen to my complaint.  In addition, they have sent me a new stand.  I am impressed with this company and their customer service.  The stand is a great deal for the money.  I would not hesitate to buy from this company again, they are really responsible.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty good for certain applications If all you are going to do is put a light on it then I would say this product will do the job. I bought two to support my camera slider. For slider applications they are to flimsy to really support the weight and it tends to shake as I move the camera. The fasteners to tighten the extensions are plastic and can break easily. It's a good buy if you need something fast and don't have a lot of money, that's what I did. For the time being they will work fine until I have more money for a more sturdy product. Just be careful with it. Don't go throwing it around and it should last you a while.

Can I mount an on-camera Cineroid LED light on this stand? Usually you would use the mini-ball with light to put it on the camera.
    Asked by: Daniel P.
You could mount a Cineroid on camera light to this stand but you'll need an adapter such as the Impact Swivel Umbrella Adapter B&H # IMCA108. This adapter would have a 1/4 male thread which connects to the 1/4 female threading on the light. It also has a 5/8 receiver to fit the stand. Please see the image below for reference.

Is this stand strong enough to support the Impact Telescopic Collapsible Reflector Holder, weight 3lbs w. reflector attached? B&H# IMLDHT. Would be for very light studio use only, nothing outdoors. Prefer not to have use sandbags.

I have this stand, it has a loose joint. Basically the screw tighten on the top joint is tight, but the pole still slides out and rotates as though it hasn't been tightened. There is a problem inside at that joint, maybe a sleeve is missing or something. Has anyone encountered this problem? Know how to repair it? Looking for a diy solution, not sending it in for repair. Can you help me with this? Id like to attempt a repair myself.Thank you,Andy
    Asked by: Andy
I don't use that stand very much, but if it was me doing a DIY, I would start with some duct tape first. Like the midpoint of the tape should be wrapped right at the joint, and use black tape. Just a thought. Sorry, I can't help.

I'm a little reluctant to purchase this because it's not air cushioned. I tend to be clumsy at times. I don't want it to come slamming down and break my flash. Anyone have any scares with this one?
    Asked by: Edith L.
I've owned two for a year. I mount a light Nikon SB-20 flash with a sensor on each, which are triggered by the camera's flash. No difficulties have happened with moving or adjusting the height.I would have liked a more expensive model but these have served their retired owner well.
