The supercardioid polar pattern and line-plus-gradient acoustic design effectively minimize audio and noise at the off-axis (sides) of the microphone, while the front of the capsule accurately reproduces incoming audio signal. The result is greater intelligibility and signal-to-noise ratio when using the NTG2 in noisy environments.
The NTG2 is powered with an internal 1.5V AA battery or an external +48V phantom power source. The output is a standard 3-pin XLR male connector.
The microphone features a rugged, all metal, lightweight enclosure that is ideal for camera mounting, yet durable enough to withstand the rigors of heavy road use. The Rode NTG2 is packaged with a microphone stand mount and windscreen.
"5 stars...Pro use...great product overall ....sound quality is good for the price....could have gone for a more expensive model but opted for this one ....im a sound engineer video guy second and I must say the audio quality produced by this microphone is awesome ....would recommend to a friend and I will be buying a second one for my video dslr setup once it is complete........I bought this mic on good reviews ....Currently I'm using the mic for interviews and pieces to camera by the journalists at my work.I've found that this mic works very well when it's close to the subject who is speaking at a good volume.I use the mic with a Zoom H4n Recorder, which unfortunately doesn't provide it enough juice to perform at its best."See more

"Love it!...Good Mic...When I am recording it still works great, but I wonder how this would function if I were to do something (like a podcast) that I wasn't necessarily going to record....While, I was a bit shocked at the size and weight of the microphone when it first arrived, I was even more shocked at how incredible the microphone worked capturing even the most soft spoken of students."See more

The VideoMicro reduces distracting peripheral sound and focuses on the audio in front of the camera. The microphone body is made from aluminum, giving it a high level of RF rejection, and is finished in a ceramic anti-glare black coating. The mic is powered by camera plug-in power (min. 3V) so no battery is required.
In addition, the VideoMicro includes a Lyre shoe-mount that minimizes unwanted vibrations, handling, and cable-borne noises, and a WS9 synthetic furry windshield with a foam inner cell, designed for use in outdoor situations where wind and environmental noise can inhibit recordings. A 1/8" TRS patch cable is also included.
"Good mic...love it!...I'll be using an iPhone for the most part due to the portability and flexibility so I was on the fence about this or the smart phone version... But decided to use the hot shoe version since new smart phones seems to be doing away with the headphone jack....I will say I shoot on a sony so it is very good internal pre- amps so if you shoot Canon or Nikon I would stick with the Video Mic Pro or something that is powered so you can turn the internal pre amps down."See more

"Not bad...Not bad....I think this mic works very well for my application, I am not looking for the absolute best sound quality nor am I a sound expert, I just want to capture their voices from a distance without the subject having to yell for the standard mic to pick up their voice....Rhode TRRS shotgun mic = excellent Built-in phone mic = so-so Polsen OLM-10 = poor Keep in mind I'm not an audio professional, so the poor results could be the result of my lack of skill/knowledge."See more

"Love It...It's Ok...I purchased this microphone because I am a Dj at an Internet Rock/Metal station.I wanted a microphone that is decent but that is also not too expensive, after hearing and reading so many great reviews about the snowball I decided to purchase one and I am very happy with it.It was very easy to setup it does not take up alot of space is quite attractive and I have not had any problems whatsoever with it....HI, When I order this Mic, I accedently ordered 2 instead of one, but after I tried it out I decided, I liked it so much that I would send the extra one to my sister who likes to sing."See more

Switchable sensitivity aids in capturing long and short distances, resulting in pristine detailed audio and low noise. Additional features include all metal construction and up to 300 hours of operation on a single AAA alkaline battery. The MKE 400 offers a simple solution to achieving high quality audio and is well suited for consumer and professional video applications.
"Good mic...Great buy...My only problem is that I forget to turn it off and wear down the battery or I forget to turn it on and when it'sn't on and plugged into the mic jack on the camera---no sound is recorded....It is also not as good as the microphones on my Canon S100 that I would trust in any video recording session (I have Windcutter muffs stuck to those miss for about a 75% improvement)."See more

"Good Mic...Great mic...The Rode VideoMic wasjust too big to work with on these small cameras and theSMX-10 has surprised me with the audio quality that can comefrom the mic when properly set up.It may not have all the glitz and glam of other mics, but itdoes a good job when mounted on the camera and I also use itfor voice overs and haven't been disappointed....Disabling the AGC is impossible without downloading the Magic Lantern firware and I am not sure if this mic would help me if I didn't have ML installed."See more

"Not bad...Love it!...The only drawback is that I think it's a little bit on the expensive side, but if audio quality is important to you, I highly recommend it....I suspect it will do this well despite only having a frequency responce down to 100Hz, but I know it will do this better than the built in mics; the ideal way to do this would be a good pair of match full range mics with a unity gain out from a mixing board."See more

"Worth it...So clear...I tested on my coolpix P7700 and sound very good with a lower level input, and for my surprise work on my nikon D7000, I don't know if this is a odd situation, but I so happy for it....This shotgun isn't the best mic in the world, but it is a definite upgrade over the on-camera mic on many cameras, especially when scratch audio is needed."See more

The high-performance microphone features smooth, natural-sounding on-axis audio quality and excellent off-axis rejection of sound arriving from the sides and rear of the mic. The AT875R operates on 11 to 52V phantom power, and has a standard XLR output connector and is compatible with some of the smaller professional cameras.
"Good Buy...Love IT!...Now I am using the Tascam DR 100 II with the AT 875, and it is a diferent ball game. The AT 875 is very senitive and enables me to use much less gain on the recorders, making for a much cleaner recording, now I only need a gain of 3-4 on a 1-10 scale. It is a good mic for booming because of the sensitivity and because it is so light....Also know that the mic requires phantom power (Must be used off an XLR straight out of the camera) I'll only owned the mic for a few months so I can only hope it will last over time but so far so good."See more

The microphone's short length of eleven inches ensures it remains out of the camera frame, when mounted on a compact consumer video camera. When capturing audio at long range, the microphone's narrow pickup pattern enhances signal reproduction, off-axis sound rejection, and minimizes noise and ambiance, which delivers a natural sound.
In addition, a built-in low-cut frequency switch helps to eliminate noise and hum registering in the low-frequency range. This microphone operates on a single 1.5V AA battery or 11 to 52V phantom power, and terminates with a 3-pin XLR connector. It includes a AT8405a stand clamp, a AT8134 foam windscreen, battery, a 5/8"-27 to 3/8"-16 threaded adapter, and a protective carrying case.
"Love it....Nice Mic...This mic has a very clear sound at 10 or 12 feet away, I would be wary on taking it further out without getting to much outside noise....I use a Blue Snowball USB mic for doing voiceovers and this Shotgun mic has better sound then that mic even at 3 times the distance."See more
