Rated 4 out of 5 by from OK Lens Great bang for the buck but I wanted something sharper with better bokeh- so I went with the Rokinon f/1.4. If you're looking for a steal this is a great lens but I prefer the Rokinon MF lens to this lens. I grew up with a MF Pentax anyway so the better lens with the MF instead of the OK lens with the AF was a no-brainer for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb Nikkor 85/1.8D lens I was on the fence about the Nikkor 85/1.8D vs the 85/1.8G and decided on the former. Upon receipt, I fell in love with the build quality, overall feel and workmanship of this piece of glass & metal. The images from this lens are tack sharp. I have no regrets about buying the 1.8D over the 1.8G.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must need in your photo bag! Best use in portraits shooting. I use it when I shoot music bands (concerts). Nothing bad.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from just what i expected Just what i needed to take great portraits with my FX camera. I was using a 50mm 1.8 on my old DX camera, but when i upgraded the camera the 50mm just wasnt going to cut it. Takes beautiful pictures. Subject stays sharp while i can blur out background distractions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excelente Lente lo he usado para realizar retratos nocturnos y la luminosidad ayuda bastante, se debe destacar la suavidad en el desenfoque y el modo de colocacin del parasol.

    question

My wife is a photographer and is really good. She has the Nikon D700 and mentioned that she is interested in an 85 mm lens. i have no idea what to get her in order to maximize the lens with the camera can you make a few recommendations as to what i should be looking at. i know the D700 is a great camera but i don't know anything about it. does it have a built in auto focus or do i need to purchase an auto focus lens? Thanks for the time!
    Asked by: Anonymous
The D700 camera has its own autofocus motor built into it, but in order for lenses to autofocus on it, they must be designated as autofocus lenses. (There are still some manual-focus only lenses available which it will work with also, but the better options are the AF options). The 85mm f1.8 lens you have selected is a nice option, but its not their most up to date version has actually been discontinued. Optically its sharp, but it focuses rather slowly. Nikon now offers a newer version which will focus much more quickly, and has an updated optical design (making it sharper with better contrast). See the link below for details on the recommendation:http://bhpho.to/xXOJOg
