    SanDisk 16GB reviews

16GB Extreme Pro CompactFlash Memory Card (160MB/s) is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 192.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best CF cards I just recently purchased a few more as I've been using the Extreme Pro cards since they came out. I've tried secure digital but they just don't match the tranfer speeds. I use them in my Canon 1D, Mark IV and 5D, Mark III's. I have never had one fail. I've used them for years in extreme environments from minus 40's in Alaska to sand storms and 100 degree heat in the Grand Canyon. Even though I've never had one fail or go corrupt, I am reluctant to use higher capacity cards for fear of losing too much data on one media storage card. 16gb is the right size for a day of action shooting and I don't mind changing out cards a few times a day. I have a few that I've bent, dented, dropped in a mud puddle and in powder snow and they still work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good card. What else do you want? I'm using this Extreme Pro CF card to record video in a 7D. Previously I was using a 133x card, which is approximately a bajillion times more slow. Also: cost a bit less (but since I bought it 2 years ago, not that much less). Here's the deal. This card is pretty fast. More responsive than the older, slower card. They seem to be a bit less glitchy than the slower cards, but maybe I haven't used them enough to tell. I think what I get most out of the thing is peace of mind that the card is not only supported for this type of thing, but excels at it. Do you need this thing? No. But it won't hurt to have it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 7GB for 16GB? When this CF card showed up, I installed it and it only showed 7GB available. I contacted SanDisk directly and was able to figure out a fix to unlock the rest of the CF card. Not really sure what happened initially, but I'm back up to most of the 16GB available (some is always lost due to PC requirements). So far, CF card reads/writes MUCH faster than my old one. Despite the 7GB available fiasco, very pleased with how quickly the CF card arrived, the quality it arrived in, and the card itself. Only due to the card being quirky initially, I'm knocking a star off...otherwise, excellent transaction.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Had to have a few extra cards for a really long wedding where we did photos & video.I really like the faster read/write speed of these new cards. We shoot a lot with a 5d Mark 111 & a 7d and so far have just used them the one time but there was no buffering during speed shooting like when they were walking down the isle. These cards are overkill for people who does not need the read/write speed and Sandisk has other opitions for those people who do not need it.But having said that we always use sandisk & have for years without a single problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ridiculously fast speed. Great card, holds up well to abuse. Ridiculously fast write speed stands out when saving large files. I was using with Canon 7D full size JPEG + medium size RAW and there was no lag time. Make sure and check card specs for WRITE speed, this is what matters. I can take all the time in the world for read speed of card. It's when taking pictures that the speed matters. Also, look at buying as a two pack to save on price per card. You can never have too much memory.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from NOT WORKING ON NIKON D4 WORKING ON D800 I bought this card initially for my Nikon D4. Unfortunately IT WOULD NOT WORK WITH IT, the D4 just gives me an Err message and does not want to read that specific card. On the D800 however no problems. I am not sure why Nikon has different software in 2 current professional camera but I suspect the issue could potentially be fixed by a firmware upgrade on the D4... at least I hope. On the D800 the card behave as it should and gives me faster transfer image transfer rate. I still thing that the XQD card (S Type) on my D4 is faster though. I have only put 3 stars because of incompatibility with my D4. It looks like these days there is not much testing done with many cameras and it is difficult to predict results.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great card! Most of my cards are SanDisk Extreme Pro's, any others were included as part of a package etc. I now shoot with a D810. During a recent Rock Mt NP trip for the elk rut I set the camera Mode to 'Continuous High' using this card. There was never a pause to capture the action. No matter how long I kept the remote shutter release pressed the card kept up. I've taken many 'action' elk shots but never as intense with almost constant movement - other bulls challenging, cows and yearlings in turmoil. Using a DX 1.5 crop factor images ranged from a high of 45 kb to lows of 20 kb. I swapped one card with 265 images taken and an estimated 70 left. The 16GB card is a perfect fit for just digital images (I don't take video).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SLICK OPERATING Two of these memory cards are employed in a Nikon D3X. The cards easily slipped into the Nikon memory housing and the camera formatting working fine. 16GB (x2) is more than enough memory for most projects. The high 160 MB/S transfer rate is superb.
