The ChickenFoot Carbon Fiber Monopod from VariZoom offers the portability of a monopod and the stability of a tripod. The stability comes from a tripod-style base that is connected to the monopod with a ball joint, allowing you to smoothly move your camera. The monopod reaches a maximum height of 78.0" and folds down to 20.0" while holding up to 25.0 lb. It includes a soft carrying case for transport and a wrist strap for added security while shooting.

Twist locks enable quick and secure height adjustment.
Both adjustable rubber feet and spiked feet are included so you can use the monopod on various surfaces such as sand, ice, carpet or slippery floors.
The three feet fold up for transport, and fold down and lock into three positions, giving you various heights and stability.
By turning the monopod while securing the base, it locks in place and can be used as a stand for small lights or microphones.

ChickenFoot Carbon Fiber Monopod is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from It completely came apart on first use. I'm gentle with my equipment, so there's no excuse for this mishap on the first job I used it on. I tried it out at home when I first got it. Everything seemed fine. I took it out on a job today and the tightening knobs seemed loose and the telescoping in two of the sections collapsed on each other. After much struggling I gave up. I just took out the instructions and they were way too simple considering what happened. At home, I tried to make the monopod work and I found two plastic pieces that fell out from inside two of the tubes. Bottom line, it is useless. I'm going to replace it with a monopod that has flip locks instead of the tightening knobs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice product In comparison with other monopods with legs, this one is currently the best bang for the buck. It is not replacement for a tripod, but for my purpose - action photos with long zooms - it works better than tripod. This is the really the most, if not the only useful support device for this type of photography. Takes no space, easy to relocate in a hurry. Plain monopod does not provide the level of comfort for extended time as the one with legs. And this model extends to the eye level while standing. Is a bit too long for luggage when folded down. But that is acceptable trade off for sturdiness and the quick length adjustment ability.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I like the new lock This is the second ChickenFoot I purchased and I like the first but the most recent one is even better. It has lever that allows you to tighten monopod in a fixed position so it is very rigid. I would not use as a tripod when fully extended but I would down lower at waist height. This is ideal for sports photography in the stands or on the sidelines. So much better than a monopod but so much lighter and easy to use than a tripod.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice and Compace I love the compact size of this and the fold out three legs. I wish I could lock the legs however so I could let go of the monopod. It doesn't feel tight enough when the legs are out. I am using a very light Sony video camera with this and I can't afford to let go incase this tilts and decides to go down. If I keep my hand on this, it's perfect for what I was looking for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ChickenFoot is a great tool I shoot wedding and sports and other events with both video and still cameras. What is great about this product is strong, lightweight, and versatile and the price. Also came with a very nice padded case. I was also able to get some stabilized shots tracking someone on a dirt trail. It work surprisingly well. Ii was impressed when I found a very nice bag keeping the equipment well protected. The telescoping sections all tightened and un tightened for adjustment very nicely. The carbon fiber construction is very lightweight and and rigid smoothly telescopes for adjustment. I found out I can also remove the 3 legged tripod and use as a regular style monopod if want. Great tool to have very useful in many of its different configurations. I am very satisfied.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Lightweight Monopod Plus lightweight, compact but not real stable works best as a more stable monopod. Would be hesitant to place camera on it without holding the shaft before, during , and after shooting. placed rapid release so camera can be taken off quickly and easily after shooting picture.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product After using a standard monopod with my 300 and 400 mm lenses, I decided that there had to be a better option when I couldn't use a tripod. After evaluating several options, I decided to give this product a try, and I am very pleased with the results. It's stable, well constructed, easy to use and very reasonably priced. I have used it with lenses up to 400mm with excellent results. Setting the tension in the ball joint on the base of the unit requires some trial and error to get it exactly to your liking, but it's worth the trouble. I found that a slightly loose position worked best for my applications. The sections all loosened and tightened very nicely and I had no problems extending the unit to it's full height. The three feet click into place securely and have three positions to choose from. The rubber feet can be removed and replaced with spikes for use in soft ground. The chickenfoot three leg attachment can be removed entirely and replaced with a standard large rubber foot, turning it into a regular monopod. The large rubber foot and spikes are included with the unit. No need to purchase these items separately. The included carrying bag is great and easily handles the monopod plus the monopod head of your choice. There's even a small pouch inside the carrying case to hold the spikes and large rubber foot mentioned above. While this unit is incredibly stable when held and used as a monopod, I wouldn't recommend leaving a DSLR + lens unattended even with the feet at their most stable position. While it does provide a significant amount of stability, it is not a tripod and shouldn't be considered as such. If you want to use it as a free standing unit, be sure to add weight to the feet so that it will not tip over. Overall, it's well worth the purchase price and very versatile.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good but major design flaw Tightening the base is hard as no tool is provided. They should have designed it like a ball head and add a knob to tighten it. I can't guarantee that it's tight enough so I can't trust my DSLR on it.
