This B&H Kit includes the ikan VL5 5" HDMI Field Monitor and the IndiPRO Tools LINK SDI to HDMI Converter. This kit has been put together so that you can use the VL5 HDMI monitor to view output from cameras with SDI outputs. The VL5 features 800 x 400 resolution and 600:1 contrast ratio for a crisp image and accepts 480i/p, 576i/p, 720p, and 1080i/p signals. The included Blue Gun only option makes it easy to calibrate the monitor for accurate color and contrast display. The monitor's built-in peaking feature allows you to be certain that what you want in focus is in focus. It comes with a sun visor and hood when shooting exteriors. The VL5 also features an interchangeable battery plate that is compatible with Panasonic G6 type batteries.
The IndiPRO Link Converter does more than just convert SDI signals to HDMI signals. Monitors with an HDMI input may not support signals that run at frequencies other than 60Hz, and may not display signals converted from SDI. However, the Link Converter auto detects the input frequency and converts the signal from SDI to an HDMI signal at 60Hz. This makes it simple to use cameras, such as the Blackmagic Cinema Camera, that output SDI at frequencies other than 60Hz with HDMI monitors.
